Jonah Berkrr's Magic Words: An Ancient Practice for Modern Times

By admin

Jonah Berger, a renowned social scientist and author, has popularized the concept of "magic words" in his book "Contagious: How to Build Word of Mouth in the Digital Age." In this book, Berger explores the factors that make certain ideas, products, or behaviors go viral and spread rapidly among people. According to Berger, magic words possess certain qualities that make them more likely to be shared and talked about. These words are specific, concrete, and vivid, making them memorable and easy to recall. Berger suggests that magic words evoke emotions and personal experiences, resonating with individuals on a deeper level. One example of a magic word is "imagine".

First, we have to build the Grim Reaper and Wicked Witch and that will require a few tools and materials that you may already have around your house but are also readily available at your local home center.

Make sure you have adequate room to turn your wood and be careful not to cut into your table or fingers by always keeping your hands even or behind your cuts and always cut away from you. This project only takes a few hours in an afternoon and kids of any age can help you with it except for operating the jigsaw which we only recommend to skilled teenagers and adults who observe proper safety when using.

One example of a magic word is "imagine". This word enables individuals to visualize and mentally engage with an idea or scenario. By prompting people to imagine, it sparks curiosity and interest, making them more likely to share the idea with others.

I'm thinking of making a Nightblade with Occultist to use primarily acid/venom Nidalla's along with Shadow Strike. Does Solael's Witchfire complement this? I figure besides Pneuma that Blood of Dreeg will replenish damage. Also, any devotion recommendations/overall suggestions? Thx!

Solael's Witchfire gives attack speed, so if you're planning to autoattack, I would invest into it as much as it is needed. If your main hitters are going to be Shadow Strike or DEE though, I would perhaps spend only 1 point into it, if even that.
Still, your main Occultist skills would be Curse of Frailty (for Vulnerability), Possession and of course Blood of Dreeg.

As for the devotions, you certainly want Murmur and Manticore. After those, I would aim for Abomination (acid branch only); Affliction also works. The rest I would pick according to your weapons and needs.

As a witch hunter your primary enemy is being as squishy as a wet paper bag, healing you have covered and some with 2 of the best heals in the game. Your issue is getting hit and not dieing haha

Ive played 2 poison focused toons extensively, unless you go with a slightly tankier combo like necro or soldier with occultist, being a nightblade you dont want to sit in melee combat for to long hitting things as you will die alot.

Personally I just use melee as a way to stack some poison dots, do a little extra acid damage while doing it, as such personally I wouldn't invest to heavily into Solaels (maybe 1 point wonder if you have +2 or 3 occultist skills?) The way most poison builds work is to shadow strike in, ROS, few Auto attacks to apply extra dots + devotion procs, run away, heal, kite watch everything die.

Thx guys! Yup that's what I plan on doing -hit & run with SS and backing up to heal while poison/acid burns 'em down, rinse & repeat.

Veil of Shadow (Night's Chill) + Curse of Frailty (Vulnerability) + Murmur + Manticore = LODS OF EMONE a horseload of resistance reduction and OA/DA debuff. Can't go wrong with that but, as others have already mentioned, getting enough HP might be challenging. Personally, I use Amarasta's Blade Burst as my l-click and wield Nightshade's Reach, loads of fun and engaging gameplay.

Yeah -HP & regen are key issues as even briefly jumping into the mobs deals serious tank/soldiery type damage.

I just tried to secondary equip 2 epic 3rd cavalry pistols I found but it would only let me equip 1 - is that by design or am I missing something?
Edit: Ah n/m -I found out I need specific gear like Gunslingers Jacket

That's weird. Nightblades are ambidextrous to swish around 2 swords but they choke on 2 pistols.

My lvl 15 Veteran Nightblade came across Smuggler's Den (random spawning cave). Holy Frijole! Gutworm is like 5 or 6 levels above, resists everything, can run you down making kiting a joke -my 115% run speed is garbage, throws nets or casts something to hold you in place, and can almost 1-hit kill. I felt like Shao Kahn was gonna say "Finish Him" while I stood around like a stunned dunce. Waaaay OP boss! I would have to re-do all my planned Nightblade skill points AND choose a much less squishy build to merely survive. DW Nightblade solo seems like the most difficult character I've played! They don't have mega-damage until later and instead of at least being glass cannons, they're dainty ballerinas hopping into mobs and bosses where they're just plain f*u!*kd.

Veil of Shadows is invaluable! I found that out the hard way. After discovering I would be mincemeat w/o any debuffers I riftgated back to Devil's Cross and respec'ed my top tier DW stuff and added Veil with it's darkness upgrade. That allowed me to eventually kill Gutworm and get the Supreme Treasure Box -which I think is a 1-shotter. And inside was 1 green and a bunch of yellow -plus the exp. for killing Gutworm was pfooey. Gee thanks. Veil reduces monster resists which are always increasing as you trudge on. I noticed that the screen pauses briefly and loads new bosses on Veteran so the mobs/CC aren't as easy either. But Veil is a real life-saver. Otherwise all the fancy sword tornado moves won't you.

Other magic words include "new", "secret", "free", and "exclusive". These words create a sense of novelty, exclusivity, and value, attracting people's attention and triggering their innate desire to be in the know and partake in something special. Berger also emphasizes the importance of the "Triggers" concept in conjunction with magic words. Triggers are stimuli that remind people of a particular brand, product, or idea, increasing the likelihood of them talking about it. By associating a product or idea with a word or phrase that is frequently encountered in daily life, it becomes more top-of-mind for individuals, enhancing its viral potential. In conclusion, Jonah Berger's concept of "magic words" highlights the power of language in driving word-of-mouth and social influence. By understanding the qualities of magic words and leveraging triggers, individuals and businesses can craft compelling messages and increase the likelihood of their ideas, products, or behaviors going viral..
