The Art of Divination: Understanding the Fortune Teller Eitch

By admin

A fortune teller, also known as an eitch, is a person who claims to have the ability to predict the future or provide insights into a person's life. This practice has existed for centuries and can be found in various cultures around the world. Many people seek out fortune tellers out of curiosity or in the hopes of gaining guidance or clarity in their lives. Fortune tellers use various methods to make predictions, including astrology, palm reading, tarot card readings, and crystal ball gazing. Each method involves different techniques and tools, but they all aim to uncover hidden information or offer glimpses into the future. Astrology is a popular method used by fortune tellers, which involves examining the positions and movements of celestial bodies to make predictions about a person's life.

Perception also should be a class skill, through a trait or something.

Always looking for new victims, this devious witch lures her victims in with her crystal ball and then casts a wicked spell over them to cook them for her Elixir of Immortality. Alma, the Fortune Teller Witch, will intrigue any trick-or-treaters who dare knock on your door with her color-changing magic ball and glowing white eyes.

Astrology is a popular method used by fortune tellers, which involves examining the positions and movements of celestial bodies to make predictions about a person's life. Based on the time and date of a person's birth, an astrologer can determine their zodiac sign and create a birth chart, which provides insights into their personality traits and potential future events. Palmistry, on the other hand, involves reading a person's palm to gain insights into their character, potential, and future.

How to make a Fortuneteller Witch

A friend of mine is starting an Old West with magic style game and I thought I would make a Witch who travelled around as a fortuneteller. This is the first Witch I have ever tried to make so I could use some help.

So what skills, spells, hexes, patron, familiar, whatever else, would make for a good fortuneteller?

A little more about the world. It will take place around 1877. It is inspired/influenced by Deadlands, but will be completely home brewed. Guns are commonplace, of course, and all core races are allowed. Allowed resources are Core and APG.

This class may be good for that. It can be taken at level 6.

Well, if you wish to be someone who sees the future, then fortune and cackle would be great. "aim a little to the left. The other left!"

You forsee things, so maximize initiative through improved initiative and the composagus (spelling) familiar.

Perception also should be a class skill, through a trait or something.

Other than that, I don't really see much of a fortune teller. You could turn it around and do the standard evil eye and misfortune bit, but I don't see that as a fortune teller per se. But if you wish to do the creepy fortune teller thing, then these sorts of curses would fit in.

Please note that the harrower will not advance witch hexes, only the spellcasting.

Hexes: Fortune, Misfortune, Cackle, Vision and Ward hexes all seem to be future-aligned. It helps that Misfortune, Fortune and Cackle are all decent hexes.

The Portents patron from Ultimate Magic is divination-centric, and the Stars patron has got a 'fortune tellery' feel but has nothing to do with telling the future. Enchantment could work for a fortune telling shill.

Choose a familiar for flavor not for stats or you'll end up with like a giant isopod or something. Like what do you imagine the character using?

Spells-- Beguiling gift, sleep, ill omen, mage armor, hypnotism are all great places to start at 1. Ill Omen is a very strong spell choice, especially if you can coordinate castings with other spellcasters. You drop ill omen and then the wizard drops a save or die, for example. "Let me see. in your future seems to be only death."

Once you're able to take major hexes, the Vison hex is just perfect. No idea what patron would work best, though.

The lines, marks, and shapes on the palm are believed to hold significant meanings and can be interpreted by a skilled fortune teller. Tarot card readings are another common practice among fortune tellers. A deck of tarot cards consists of 78 cards that have different meanings and symbolism. During a reading, a fortune teller will shuffle the deck and lay out a spread of cards. Each card is then interpreted based on its position and the question or topic at hand, providing insights and guidance. Crystal ball gazing is a method that involves a fortune teller gazing into a crystal ball or similar object to receive images or visions of the future. The images are believed to provide messages or warnings, and the fortune teller can interpret them for the person seeking guidance. While some people believe in the accuracy and validity of fortune tellers, others view it as mere entertainment or a way to explore their own thoughts and emotions in a symbolic manner. It is important to note that fortune telling is not a scientifically proven practice, and the predictions or insights provided by fortune tellers should be taken with a grain of salt. In conclusion, fortune tellers, or eitches, claim to possess the ability to predict the future or offer insights into a person's life. Through the use of various methods such as astrology, palmistry, tarot card readings, and crystal ball gazing, they seek to uncover hidden information or offer guidance. However, the accuracy and validity of fortune telling remain a subject of debate, and it is ultimately up to the individual to interpret and determine the significance of the insights gained from a fortune teller..
