Preparing Traditional Pagan Foods for the Feast of Brigid: Recipes and Techniques

By admin

The Feast of Brigid is a pagan festival celebrated on February 1st, which marks the beginning of spring. This festival is dedicated to the Celtic goddess Brigid, who represents fire, fertility, and healing. Brigid is also known as a patroness of poetry, smithcraft, and childbirth. The Feast of Brigid is a time for communities to come together, give thanks, and honor the goddess through various rituals and traditions. One of the central aspects of this celebration is the creation of Brigid's cross, which is made from rushes or straw and is believed to provide protection against evil spirits. The making of these crosses is seen as a way to invoke Brigid's blessings and bring luck for the year ahead.

Spirit Realm

You can backtrack certain locations to collect any missed items within the Spirit Realm and Abyss only using Teleport. You should do this before facing the final boss at the Spirit Realm - Throne area.

During this entire map, we will be using Thunder a lot to clear enemies from a safe distance. So when I say “snipe the enemy”, please assume that I’m talking about taking them out using Thunder. (You can also toggle the zoom distance with this spell which makes it function like a sniper rifle).

In the spirit realm, head towards the statue near your starting point and use it. You can destroy the brown crystals near the statue to get some basic consumable items. Don’t hesitate to destroy the green crystals as well since aside from replenishing your HP and MP, there’s also a chance for a random item to appear which you can pick up and add to your collection.

From the statue, follow the only path until you reach a large ruin where several enemies are waiting. Snipe them from a distance using your Thunder spell then destroy the barrel in the middle of the ruins. More enemies will appear afterward so take your time scouting and sniping the enemies before heading into the ruins. Be wary of the blue enemy variants since one of them is a lightning- fast melee attacker while the other releases slow-moving blue orbs that pass through walls and deal damage-over-time.

Some of the enemies will be hiding around corners and will only appear once you’re nearby. You can spot these in advance by walking around the edges of the ruins, as shown below. From there, you can easily snipe them before they can even spot you. Continue sniping all enemies you can see then make your way around the outer edges of the building with the stairs. There are a couple of red enemies here that you can destroy, then hug the walls and walk around to spot an item at the end. To return, just enter through any of the windows.

Next, let’s make our way upstairs and take out the enemies along the way. Make your way to the next flight of stairs that leads to a small room. From there, a new enemy type will appear. It can fire arrows quickly but you can disrupt it with a quick Thunder shot as well. If you don’t have good reflexes, try to at least evade its shots and retaliate with your own spells.

After defeating that enemy, continue moving up by jumping on the stone platforms by the walls. Exit through the ruins to find another multi-level ruin. There should be two blue enemies visible from your position so try to snipe them, especially the blue, fast melee type. If you aggro the melee type, it will attempt to rush towards your position and fall off to oblivion.

Once clear, carefully head down the rocky ledges. You should spot another blue melee-type enemy hiding behind the pillar. Snipe it from a distance then continue to the walkway at the bottom floor of the ruins. A new purple enemy will spawn at the end of the corridor, wielding a greatsword. It uses an unstoppable charging attack so be prepared to get out of the way. However, it’s quite vulnerable right after stopping its charge so as long as you’re able to get behind it, you can easily destroy this enemy.

Continue forth and take the stairs to the left. Take out the blue enemy there (or snipe it from the bottom of the stairs). There’s another archer on a platform ahead that will take potshots at you. Take cover behind the pillar then attempt to either counter-snipe her or simply rush her. After defeating that archer, continue upstairs. Destroy the crystals blocking the ledge then jump down. Be prepared to take out the floating red ball enemies that will spawn shortly after.

Make your way across the broken floors to the next part of the walkway. As soon as you get there, another archer and a red ball enemy will spawn upstairs. Snipe the red ball first then get rid of the archer. Head upstairs then take out the blue enemy to the left. Before going upstairs, look up and snipe another enemy that may peek from the edge of the top floor of the ruins.

Proceed upstairs and take out another red ball and a purple warrior enemy. Destroy the crystals blocking the ledge ahead then carefully drop down to the narrow path below. Carefully move towards the corner but don’t go around the corner yet. There’s a blue enemy waiting ahead and several red balls will spawn nearby as well. Fall back and pick them off one by one as they go towards your position. Once you’ve dealt with the red balls, carefully go around the corner and take out the blue enemy.

Destroy the crystal ahead then jump across to the next platform. There’s another blue, fast melee enemy around the next corner so be prepared to deal with it as well. After taking it out, this should be the last enemy in the area. If not, there’s at least one more patrolling enemy that you’ll encounter shortly. Once clear, just continue forward along the only path and destroy the crystals along the way if you want. The path will lead you directly to the next goddess statue. Use it then purchase the necessary stat upgrades for Nobeta.

From the second goddess statue, ignore the gate to the left for now since it’s a shortcut that you can unlock later on. Continue down the steps and you’ll find a ruin with a blue crystal in the middle. Don’t head inside the ruin yet; there are three small obelisks in the separate area just past the crystal. You have to snipe them with your Thunder spell and destroy all three in quick succession from your position. Thunder is going to be your most reliable spell here since you can easily take out enemies or obelisks from a distance.

If done correctly, the area will rearrange and new enemies will spawn at the same time. If you get close before destroying the obelisks, you’ll trigger the barrier on the three obelisks, making it impossible to destroy them. If that happens, simply return to the Goddess statue to reset it.

Proceed to the ruins and carefully take out the enemies. After clearing the initial wave, a couple of purple warrior enemies will appear. Take them out then carefully proceed forward. There are more enemies above so expect some of them to drop down on you. Make sure to scout the area before moving in and pick off targets to make it easier for you to navigate.

Continue towards the other side of the ruins and take out the blue hooded caster on the rocky platform to the right. There’s also another blue caster on the ledge right above you so snipe that one out as well. Continue towards the floating rock platforms and take out the blue ball enemy and another hooded caster at the distance.

Continue upstairs until you circle around back to the upper pathway of the ruins. Continue sniping any enemy you see until the area’s clear. Now before moving forward, look to the right to find a discolored wall. Destroy it with magic then jump towards that newly opened ledge. This will lead you to a chest containing a Thunder grimoire.

Return to the main ledge and drop to the narrow wall below to pick up an item. Circle around once more back to the main path and head around to the other side of the ruins. Jump on the stone platform but don’t go straight ahead yet. Instead, turn left and take the stairs. Go up another set of stairs and make your way to the corner of the walkway to find an obelisk. Destroy it to create a pathway that leads back to the goddess statue. You can return to the statue and save there but that would mean having to deal with most of the enemies that respawn on the ruins. However, there’s a mini-boss sequence ahead that’s also tied to an achievement so if you want to be safe, I recommend saving at this point and just take out the enemies that will block your way.

Continue along the path and destroy the crystals blocking the path. There’s a purple warrior waiting around the corner so kite it if you must then proceed to the end of the corridor where there’s a hole on the floor. Fall through it and break your fall with an aerial roll or jump. Continue to the next area to trigger a cutscene. You’ll have to fight this miniboss called “The Seal” shortly after.

For this fight, the miniboss will be floating around and you’ll only be limited by the available pathways to you. You can use any spell but I personally prefer Thunder’s charge up since it speeds up Nobeta and slows down everything around her, including bosses and mini-bosses. In this battle, keep your distance and try to land some powerful charged attacks to stagger the boss and allow you to land some free shots as well while it recovers. After charging up Thunder, run around to quickly gain distance, then line up your magic circle so the boss gets completely hit by the spell.

Also, if you time it right, you can even interrupt and cancel the Seal’s casting if your Thunder’s final blast connects. There are also several destructible crystals here that you can use to recover your HP and Mana, if you need to. Just keep repeating the same strategy and you’ll be able to defeat this miniboss without issues. Don’t forget to destroy the remaining crystals after the battle to pick up various items.

Achievement Opportunity: A Seal Broken
For this achievement, you have to defeat the Seal during this chase sequence in one attempt.

Next, head to the next area by going downstairs. Continue along the long walkway to trigger another cutscene. The Seal will once again appear and will chase you along this path. You have to defeat her while running away and of course, the best spell to use is still Thunder. Charge up your spell then run away. Turn around and line up your magic circle so that she’ll absorb all the lightning strikes. If all strikes connect, this should stagger her a bit so start another charge up. At this point, you might also be able to absorb some energy that will make charging faster. If that happens, repeat the process. Be careful not to get hit by her attacks while charging since it can reset the charge up process. Don’t forget that she can also use powerful ranged attacks so get ready to evade!

If you don't manage to finish her in one loop, you can destroy the fake wall that will lead back to your starting point. There’s also a chest there that contains Fire but you can come back for that later. If you managed to take her out before finishing the first loop, don’t forget to pick up the item she leaves behind then proceed to find that destructible wall and loot the grimoire from the chest behind it.

Continue following the main path until you reach the goddess statue. From the statue, you’ll find two paths; the long flight of stairs in front of the statue or the other path on the right side of the statue. The stairs will lead to a closed gate. Pull the lever to open it and now you have a shortcut to the second goddess statue. Use that statue then use the Teleport option (if you have explored the Secret Passage before heading to the Spirit Realm). Select the Crossroads statue to return there then follow the other path.

Start off by sniping the enemies that you can spot. There are obelisks here that you need to destroy in order to remove the fire trap and activate a lift. Thankfully, you can easily destroy those from a distance using Thunder in quick succession. After clearing the enemies, continue along the walkway then look to the left to find the obelisk from a distance. Destroying this will disable the fire trap above.

Next, find the other obelisk just ahead, near the side of the tall cliff ahead. Destroy it using Thunder’s long range to activate an elevator to the left. Before jumping down from the ledge, try to take out the red enemies lurking to the left. A well-placed Thunder blast should be enough to take out at least two of them, as shown below.

We have to ride the lift next. If you’re collecting items for the achievement, you still have to destroy the crystals around the obelisk you just destroyed. As you get near it, a purple warrior enemy will spawn. Take it out then destroy the crystals to collect the item. From there, backtrack to the lift and ride it. Jump down on the next ledge (not the topmost ledge) and take the stairs to the right. Go around the corner to the left and destroy the crystals to find a chest. Open it to get a copy of Absorption skill.

From there you can just go back to the lift. The crystals near the first obelisk you destroyed contain no items and there are only a couple of enemies lurking around the corner to the right. If you don’t want to bother with them, return to the lift then jump off to the highest ledge. Destroy the two crystals to collect an item then follow the path upstairs. Be careful of the two blue enemies lurking on the rocky outcrop to the left. Take them out then snipe the floating ball enemies far ahead.

Continue along the path and make your way towards the lever. Operate the lever to remove the dark barrier covering the last obelisk. Go up the first flight of stairs then look up. You should have a clear shot of the obelisk there. Destroy it with Thunder and a teleporter will get activated. Make your way up and take out the purple warrior enemy along the way. Once ready, use the teleporter to continue forth to the next area.

From the new section’s teleporter point, snipe the enemies on the ruins to the right. There’s also a chest on the rocky outcrop to the left but don’t worry about it for now. We’ll gain access to it later. For now, make your way to the right and destroy the crystals blocking the path. There are more enemies within your field of view here so snipe them off one by one. Drop down the ledge and snipe more enemies from the cliff behind you and the ruins on the left.

After taking out all visible enemies, continue upstairs and destroy the crystal along the way to get an item. Make your way to the top of the structure then follow the path and through the tunnel between the two rocks. From there, you can jump towards the next ledge or drop to the floor below. Both of them lead to the same path; just continue going upstairs. Once you reach the top, look to the left and take out the blue mage enemy there.

Continue upstairs and through the tunnel. A purple archer will spawn ahead so be prepared to take it out. Continue to the structure and make your way downstairs. There are a couple of blue mage enemies to the left as well so take them out as you go down.

Continue along the path but don't take the stone walkway yet; instead, go downstairs to the left. Continue following the wall to the left until you find a discolored wall. Destroy it to gain access to the chest you saw earlier. Pick up a Fine Holy Crystal from it. Backtrack to the main path and follow the stone walkway this time.

You’ll eventually reach a goddess statue. Pick up the item in front of the statue then use the statue to spend your soul essences. Once ready, continue upstairs and approach the light to trigger a cutscene. You’ll meet Vanessa once again; she still wants your body but this time, she’s a lot more powerful.

After the battle you’ll find yourself in a new area called the Abyss. Please follow that link for the complete walkthrough of that area.

The making of these crosses is seen as a way to invoke Brigid's blessings and bring luck for the year ahead. Another important part of the Feast of Brigid is the lighting of candles or bonfires, which symbolize the returning of light and warmth after the dark and cold winter months. These fires are believed to cleanse and purify the surroundings, as well as offer protection and good fortune.

Feast of brigid pagan

In addition to these rituals, the Feast of Brigid is also a time for feasting, storytelling, and music, as these activities are seen as ways to honor Brigid's creative and nurturing qualities. Overall, the Feast of Brigid is a celebration of the changing seasons and a time to honor the goddess Brigid and her many attributes..

Reviews for "The Sacred Sites of Brigid: Pagan Pilgrimage and Ceremonies on her Feast Day"

1. John - 2/5 - I was really disappointed with "Feast of Brigid Pagan". The storyline was confusing and hard to follow, and the characters lacked depth. It felt like the author was trying to combine too many elements into one book, and it just didn't work. The writing style was also not engaging, and I found myself struggling to stay interested. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this book.
2. Emily - 3/5 - "Feast of Brigid Pagan" had an interesting concept, but I felt like it fell short in execution. The pacing was too slow, and I found myself losing interest in the story halfway through. Additionally, the dialogue felt forced and unnatural, making it difficult to connect with the characters. While there were some intriguing moments, the overall reading experience left me underwhelmed.
3. Sarah - 2/5 - I found "Feast of Brigid Pagan" to be quite predictable and cliché. The plot twists were easily foreseeable, and the character development was insufficient. The romance subplot felt forced and lacked chemistry. Additionally, the descriptive language was lacking, making it hard to immerse myself in the story. Overall, it was a forgettable read that didn't meet my expectations.
4. Michael - 1/5 - I couldn't finish "Feast of Brigid Pagan". The writing was incredibly dull and lacked any sense of excitement. The characters were one-dimensional, and the plot was unoriginal. It felt like a poor attempt at recreating other successful novels in the genre. I regret wasting my time trying to get into this book, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a captivating read.
5. Rebecca - 2/5 - "Feast of Brigid Pagan" had potential, but it failed to deliver. The world-building was weak and left me with many unanswered questions. The pacing was inconsistent, with moments of action followed by long stretches of boredom. The main character felt flat and lacked depth, making it hard to empathize with their journey. Overall, the book left me feeling unsatisfied and disappointed.
