In Italy, there is a unique folklore tradition that is celebrated during Christmas called La Befana. La Befana is an old woman who is often referred to as the Italian Christmas Witch. According to the legend, she is said to fly on her broomstick on the night of January 5th, known as the eve of Epiphany, to deliver presents to children. The origins of La Befana can be traced back to a story in Christian folklore. It is believed that the Three Wise Men, also known as the Magi, were on their way to visit the baby Jesus when they stopped at the house of an old woman.
