I tested Dread Resistance (DR). I timed different setups. I did this when my Umbral Lamp was upgraded to +2, which allegedly gives +20% DR. When I talk about "first eye" and "second eye" I refer to those small extra eyes that show up next to the large one. The second eye indicates the start of the 1.2x multiplier and the third eye indicates the 2.0x multiplier. Red eye refers to when the eye turns red and the Scarlet Shadow shows up which also indicates the start of the 3.0x multiplier. There's a thin white circle around the large eye that indicates the progression of dread, but it is misleading. The circle moves progressively faster, with the last quarter of the circle moving much faster than the first. As you can see below, Mother's Watch provides roughly 25% DR. And that 25% DR adds roughly 1 min and 45 seconds before the Scarlet Shadow shows up. However, having both 25% DR and Mother's watch adds just over 5 minutes before the Scarlet Shadow shows up. So there's some multiplicative scaling going on with DR.

With no dread resistance (other than the 20% from lamp upgrade):
First eye: 2:03
Second eye: 3:03
Third eye: 4:24
Red eye: 5:10

With Mother's Watch (and +2 lamp):
First eye: 2:50
Second eye: 5:00
Third eye: 6:10
Red eye: 6:50

With 25% Dread resistance from umbral eye socket (and +2 lamp):
First eye: 2:47
Second eye: 4:47
Third eye: 6:17
Red eye: 6:56

With 25% DR and Mother's Watch (and +2 lamp):
First eye: 4:19
Second eye: 7:19
Third eye: 9:21
Red eye: 10:21

The Lightreaper | Lords of the Fallen Wiki

The Lightreaper is a Colossal Boss in Lords of the Fallen (LotF). The Lightreaper is the first boss encountered in the game but is not officially faced. He appears in search of lampbearers and is a hybrid of a Rhogar and an umbral parasite. The Lightreaper rides in mounted on a fire-breathing dragon-like creature with two heads that can cause a great amount of Burn and Ignite build-up. Defeating him during your third and final encounter will earn you the Achievement: Hunt's End. This is not an optional boss, as players need to face it to advance in Lords of the Fallen (LOTF). Bosses are powerful enemies that add challenging experiences to the game. Defeating them grants players with rare and/or unique armaments, armor, magic, and other items. In some cases, they are required to advance the story further.

      The Lightreaper LOTF Fight Strategy

The Best Tips for The Lightreaper:

      • Recommended Spells: Lucent Beam (co-op), Blessed Reflections, Piercing Light, Septic Heave
      • Recommended Items: Ignite Cure
      • Poison build-up is not reset, when Lightreaper returns on mount.
        • However, it seems that ticks happens but no damage is registered

The Lightreaper is not intended to be defeated for the first during the first encounter when he is encountered on a dragon's back. It is part of the main progression to be defeated by The Lightreaper through his number burn and ignite attacks. He is later again encountered in Fitzroy's Gorge. The encounter begins with a breath of fire that leaves a trail that can build Ignite upon contact. The Lightreaper also has the ability to open up a portal and disappear into it to reappear elsewhere in the combat area and catch you by surprise. While mounted, the winged mount can also dive and knock you down if you are caught in the landing area. You can dodge out of the way to avoid contact and damage. For the first part, continue to avoid its fire breath until the Lightreaper hops off his mount.

Stay close for when he unmounts himself. There will be a brief idle period before he begins his first action, usually by finding a position in the combat area. While on foot, the Lightreaper wields a set of dual blades that can deploy a ranged attack. he is also able to cover distances very quickly while dealing a combination of melee attacks. On foot, he will have great mobility and speed and will be able to dash while attacking.

With each proceeding melee attack, you will be able to keep backing up or blocking them while waiting for the attack animation to complete. If you return to this location following its defeat, the Lightreaper can no longer be found here. After defeating the Lightreaper at this location (Fritroy's Gorge), the boss will disappear and he will move on to the next location at the outskirts of Bramis Castle- Upper Calrath Plaza, where the final encounter will be.

        Upper Calrath Plaza

During the third encounter, he will display the same attacks and actions for the most part so you can deal with him the same way. However, during this encounter, the Lightreaper will have the ability to slowly recover himself throughout the fight until you destroy the Umbral entity above the fight otherwise it will be difficult to make progress during the fight. This is a unique feature of the encounter in this location.

Once you return to face him, make sure you stay close and approach him aggressively. Learn his attacks so you can dodge accordingly. At a distance, you can rely on ranged attacks. He generally also dashes away before dealing a ranged attack.

        The Lightreaper Attacks & Counters

        Attack Description Counter
        Mount
Fire Breath The Mount spews a line of fire that can cause Ignite and Burn leaving a trail that can also affect those in contact. Run out of the path of fire and steer clear of the fiery/magma trail it leaves
Dive A Dive attack done by the mount while airborne. It has the ability to swoop down Sprint away from the anticipated landing area based on the direction of the dive. This move can be deflected, will stop the mount part if done successfully.
        Foot
Dual Blade ranged slash With a swift move of both of his blades, he releases a projectile arc that moves in a linear direction. Quickly dodge to either side. It is a relatively narrow attack, so you should have enough time if you have some distance between.
Dual Blade Swing A melee swing using blade Block or dodge this attack
Double Swing Another melee swinging attack where he uses both blades and swings them one after the other This attack can occur in a sequence so continue to block or keep backing up until the combo is done.
Strike down A melee attack where he strikes his blade and stabs down toward the ground Dodge away from the area directly in front of the Lightreaper.
Pounce A leaping attack where he leaps in the area and makes a hard landing on the ground. React as soon as The Lightreaper leaps, and move in the opposite direction of his leap or toward the spot where he lept from.
Thrust The Lightreaper can charge with his sword pointed out Roll to the side of the attack.
Spin Attack The Lightreaper spins while advancing and holing its blades up, cutting those in its path Dodge back away as he approaches or block the attack as it plays out.
Fire Spread The Lightreaper can spread lines of fire in different directions. You can easily run out of the flames even once hit to avoid the continuous burn effects. However, you are also temporarily confined to the gap it left in between the trails of fire.
Fire AoE An explosion of fire that spreads outwards This can be blocked, but you will gain Wither.
Fire Spin Combo An aerial spin that releases a few fiery projectiles followed by a firey AoE strike A few different things to look out for here, but as soon as he lifts, immediately distance yourself to prepare of the coming actions of the same combo.
Rage The Lightreaper shouts into air, what triggers 3rd phase of the encounter and releases a wave of fire. Roll towards target to avoid getting hit
Unmounted Fire Breath The Lightreaper calls his mount to attack in same fashion as when he was mounted (Fire Breath) Roll to the side and avoid stepping into fire pool
One with the Mount After depleting Lightreaper's healthbars, he calls his mount to crash directly into him, causing them to die, releasing a wave of fire. Roll towards target and celebrate victory.

They should really patch out the second, third and maybe there is a fourth time where he gets on his dragon mount. Just takes up time in an already time consuming fight. Especially on my Inferno build.

Well, this proves it. The developers of this game don't understand what makes bosses fun to engage with. They make the bosses so hyperaggressive and it's just not fun. Lightreaper doesn't give you a single inch of space or a solitary moment with which to heal. His repeated, spinning slashing attacks seem impossible to avoid and they might as well have made this fight against a flaming blender on wheels. That would've been equally fun. I legitimately don't understand the people saying they had an easy time with this boss. I'm pretty sure they're all lying to make themselves feel special or something. Even at level 150 this boss is an absolute brick wall.

This boss can be enountered up to 4 times, with the fourth time in Upper Calrath B being a non-optional boss fight to get to the final area of Bramis Castle. This is the boss you encounter(and presumably get wrecked by) in the Defiled Sepulchre near the beginning of the game. If failed, he will next spawn next at either the Fief of the Chilled Curse, down the road, after the Hollow Crow boss fight. If you choose the other direction before Fief, you will meet him in Fitroys Gorge, in a fairly large circular arena down the road from the Ruiner Boss fight on the bridge. Both the Feif and the Fitzroy Gorge fights are also 1 time fights. If you are defeated, he will NOT respawn in this same place again. The final, repeatable fight, will be in Upper Calrath B, where you may(or may not) have fought the minor Ruiner with the large amount of hounds in an oval shaped area filled with breakables and people turned to ash. This boss will have essentially 3 phases. First phase: mounted at beginning of fight, alternating between two fire breathing passovers and two "dragon dive" attacks, always starting with fire breathing. Dodging is essential to avoid major damage. He will then dismount with the phrase "Give me that lamp!" in which he will be "on foot." He will always start his "on foot" attacks with a jump backwards and a slash attack that will shoot out a horizontal arc of fire. Be ready to dodge. He will do this mount/on foot rotation 3 times in intervals, based on his health percentage down to 50%. At near, or around 50% health, he will permanently empower himself with fire damage to all his attacks, and may occasionally summon his dragon for a fire breathing passover. He will also gain more attack types, including running around you to create a fire circle, before lunge attacking. This boss requires much dodging in both his mounted phase, and on foot phase. Personal Recommendation: 100+ in character levels(higher the better), fully upgraded gear(without Delirium Chunks, at least +4/+9 to all gear), and endgame build synergy. Co-op is not required, but recommended. Casters will have a much easier time with this boss than melee, if they keep their distance and avoid his arc and lunge attacks. However, melee can still do this boss just fine. Master your dodge timings, or if you are confident, you can parry or block the majority of his attacks on foot. He does, however, have some very large combo attacks(Similar to Skinstealer), so you must be ready to dodge multiple times, or multiple blocks/parries. Due to his large combo attacks, mastry of perfect parries and attacks in between will break his posture relatively quickly. I suggest you do not attempt to block/parry unless you have significant stamina and know his attack timings. He will attack often, and quickly.

Once you've concluded the epic journey through Mournstead, there are three different endings for you to experience. Each ending will unlock a corresponding achievement, and there are certain steps you'll need to complete to be able to get each one.

The most straightforward ending is the Radiant Ending, which requires the cleansing of all five beacons. But to find out how to unlock all three endings, visit our How to Get All Endings page.

        Curse of umbral knight

The curse twisted his mind and filled him with an insatiable thirst for power and destruction. The curse of the Umbral Knight bound him to a life of intense suffering. He was condemned to eternal darkness, forever tormented by the evil that had granted him his power. No matter how hard he tried to break free, he was trapped within the grasp of his own curse. According to the legend, the only way for the Umbral Knight to break free from the curse was to find the one person who possessed the ability to see through his darkness and bring light to his soul. This person would hold the key to his redemption and the salvation of his tortured existence. Throughout the ages, many have sought to break the curse and free the Umbral Knight, but all have failed. It is said that those who try and fail become cursed themselves, forever entangled in the web of darkness that surrounds the Umbral Knight. The curse of the Umbral Knight serves as a cautionary tale, a reminder of the dangers of unchecked power and the consequences of straying from the path of righteousness. It speaks to the eternal struggle between light and dark, good and evil, and the choices we make that shape our destinies. Though the story of the Umbral Knight may be shrouded in myth and legend, it serves as a reminder to tread carefully and always be wary of the price we may pay for power and the consequences that may follow. The curse of the Umbral Knight stands as a testament to the eternal grip of darkness and the difficult journey towards redemption..

        1. John - 2 stars
I found "Curse of Umbral Knight" to be quite disappointing. The plot felt incredibly generic, with predictable twists and turns that I saw coming from a mile away. The characters were one-dimensional and lacked any depth, making it difficult to connect with them or care about their journey. Additionally, the writing style was lackluster and failed to create any sense of atmosphere or tension. Overall, I was left feeling underwhelmed and uninvested in the story.
        2. Sarah - 1 star
"Curse of Umbral Knight" was a complete letdown for me. The pacing was incredibly slow, with long-winded descriptions that seemed to drag on forever. The dialogue felt forced and unnatural, making it hard to believe in the interactions between the characters. I also found numerous grammatical errors throughout the book, which disrupted the flow of the story. The lack of originality in the plot was also a major drawback, as it felt like a rehash of countless other fantasy novels I've read before. I wouldn't recommend wasting your time on this one.
        3. Mark - 2 stars
I was excited to dive into "Curse of Umbral Knight," but unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. The world-building was weak and barely explored, leaving me with many unanswered questions about the setting and its history. The action scenes were lackluster and failed to deliver any excitement or tension. I also found the writing to be overly descriptive and repetitive, making it difficult to stay engaged. Overall, the book felt like a missed opportunity and lacked the depth and originality I was hoping for.
        4. Emily - 2.5 stars
"Curse of Umbral Knight" had a promising premise, but it fell short in execution. The characters lacked development, and their motivations were unclear, which made it hard to root for them. The pacing was uneven, with long stretches of sluggish storytelling that made me lose interest. Additionally, the world-building felt shallow, without enough context to fully understand the conflicts and dynamics at play. While there were some redeeming moments, such as a few well-written action sequences, they weren't enough to salvage the overall reading experience.
