The Curse of the Frozen Gold is a tale that has captured the imagination of treasure hunters and adventurers for decades. The story revolves around a lost treasure, buried deep in the icy landscapes of the Yukon, Canada. It is said to be a cache of gold, worth millions of dollars, hidden away by a group of prospectors during the Klondike Gold Rush in the late 1800s. According to the legend, a group of miners struck gold in the harsh wilderness of the Yukon and decided to guard their discovery with their lives. They believed that the immense wealth would bring them happiness and prosperity. However, their greed and desperation led them to make a pact with a mysterious figure, a shaman who possessed dark powers.
Zittle, according to local historians, did not charge for these services or spells – but as demand for his work eventually became overwhelming he eventually decided to publish a book of spells as a way to cash-in on his abilities. Boonsboro printer Josiah Knodle published the book in 1845 under the title, “A Friend in Need; Or, Secret Science.” The book opened with the passage from Psalm 50: “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.” Unfortunately, according to legend, after publication of the book Zittle lost his powers as a result of trying to commoditize his supernatural powers.
Dahlgren s chronicles have formed some of the best-written accounts of the early folklore of the area, much of which would have been lost due to the dying tradition oral of storytelling. Special mountain folk are called upon to blow fire from painful burns while still others carry in their pockets arrangements of letters or quotations that are mixtures of black magic and holy scripture and which invariably invoke the holy trinity.
However, their greed and desperation led them to make a pact with a mysterious figure, a shaman who possessed dark powers. In exchange for their treasure, the shaman promised them eternal life and wealth beyond their wildest dreams. Little did they know that the promise came with a terrible curse.

On August 27, 1776, the British Army, under the command of General William Howe launched the first major assault since the Americans had declared their independence on July 4, 1776.

Eighteen Hundred and Froze to Death: 1816 and the Year Without a Summer
The old joke, oft repeated, about the mercurial climate of Maryland is that if you don’t like the weather, just wait five minutes. While the official start to the summer of 2023 has been unseasonably cool, it doesn’t come close to the below-normal temperatures of 1816, or what was then called, “The Year Without a Summer.”

The miners buried their gold deep in the permafrost, believing that it would remain safe until they returned. But as soon as the last shovel of dirt covered their riches, the curse took hold. The cold winds howled through the icy landscape, and a storm like no other descended upon the area. The miners were trapped, frozen in time, forever guarding their hidden treasure. Over the years, many brave souls have attempted to find the cursed gold, eager to claim its riches for themselves. However, those who dare to venture into the frozen wilderness of the Yukon are met with a series of deadly obstacles. It is said that the spirits of the miners still roam the area, protecting their hoard with a vengeance. They whisper in the wind, warning trespassers to turn back. Not only do the treasure hunters face the wrath of the spirits, but they also have to conquer the brutal elements of the Arctic. The sub-zero temperatures, treacherous terrains, and unpredictable weather make the search for the cursed gold a daunting task. Many have lost their lives in pursuit of this elusive treasure, their bodies frozen in the unforgiving landscape. But the allure of the gold continues to draw people to the Yukon, fueling their desire for wealth and adventure. It is a story that is passed down through generations, inspiring new explorers to take on the challenge. They believe that with the right knowledge and determination, they will be the one to break the curse and claim the frozen gold. However, some argue that the curse is nothing more than a myth, a cautionary tale to deter treasure hunters from venturing into the dangerous wilderness. They believe that the real treasure lies in the adventure itself, in the pursuit of the unknown. Whether the Curse of the Frozen Gold is real or not, it has certainly left its mark on the collective imagination, forever entwined with the legends of the Yukon and the allure of buried treasure..

1. John - 2/5 rating - Curse of the Frozen Gold was a major disappointment for me. The show had a great concept but it lacked in execution. The editing seemed choppy and the storyline was confusing. It felt like they were trying to cram too much into each episode and I found it hard to keep up with all the different characters and plotlines. The constant flashbacks became annoying after a while and it took away from the main story. Overall, I was left feeling unsatisfied and uninterested in the outcome of the treasure hunt.
2. Emily - 1/5 rating - I found Curse of the Frozen Gold to be absolutely terrible. The show was overly dramatic and seemed more focused on creating fake tension rather than delivering on the promise of an exciting treasure hunt. The cast felt forced and their interactions were cringeworthy. Additionally, the host's constant attempts at humor fell flat and were more annoying than anything. The whole show felt like a cheap knockoff of other treasure hunting shows and I would not recommend wasting your time watching it.
3. Mike - 2/5 rating - Curse of the Frozen Gold had potential, but it failed to live up to it. The show was plagued by poor writing and lackluster acting. The dialogue was clichéd and the characters were one-dimensional. The treasure hunt itself lacked excitement and the constant setbacks felt manufactured and forced. I was hoping for a thrilling adventure, but instead, I was left feeling bored and disappointed. Overall, Curse of the Frozen Gold was a missed opportunity and I would not recommend it to others.
4. Sarah - 3/5 rating - While Curse of the Frozen Gold had its flaws, it was still somewhat entertaining. The show had moments of suspense and the premise was intriguing. However, the pacing was off and it felt like the show dragged on at times. The editing was also questionable, with jumps and cuts that made it difficult to follow the story. Despite these issues, there were moments that kept me engaged and curious about the outcome of the treasure hunt. It's not the best treasure hunting show out there, but it's worth watching if you have nothing else to watch and enjoy the genre.
