Rune Alpha is a term used in the field of runology to refer to the earliest known form of the runic alphabet. The runic alphabet is a set of ancient symbols that were used by the Germanic peoples of Northern Europe from around the 2nd century AD until the late Middle Ages. Rune Alpha is considered to be the prototype of this alphabet, from which all later variations of runes evolved. Runic inscriptions were commonly found on various objects such as stones, wood, metal, and even bones. These inscriptions served a variety of purposes, including communication, magic, and religious rituals. The runes were also used for divination and as an early form of writing.

The runes were also used for divination and as an early form of writing. Rune Alpha is believed to have originated from a combination of earlier Germanic symbols and influences from the Latin alphabet. Unlike the later runic alphabets, Rune Alpha contained only 24 characters, known as runes, which represented both phonetic sounds and abstract concepts.

Why did Sophie and Howl spare the Witch of the Waste?

I just finished watching "Howl's Moving Castle" and I'm wondering why Sophie and Howl basically became best friends with the Witch of the Waste. She cursed Sophie and couldn't remove the curse, so she was useless to them, and in the beginning of the movie Sophie seemed to hate her. While escaping from the king's castle Sophie and Howl could just throw the witch out of the plane, or at least just leave her somewhere. Why did they let her live and even stay in the moving castle with them?

That must be a change they made in the movie; in the original book, Howl kills her with a word of power as she's fighting the scarecrow, after she threatened his family and Sophie.

The shapes of these runes were angular and geometric, making them easily distinguishable. One of the most intriguing aspects of Rune Alpha is its association with magical and mystical practices. Many runic inscriptions found on artifacts were written in a cryptic or enigmatic manner, suggesting a deeper meaning or hidden message. These inscriptions were often used in charms and spells for protection, healing, and other supernatural purposes. The runic alphabet was believed to possess a special power or connection to the spiritual realm. Over time, the runic alphabet evolved and branched into different regional variants, such as the Elder Futhark, the Younger Futhark, and the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc. These variants had different numbers of runes and slight differences in their shapes and pronunciation. Despite these variations, the basic structure and principles of Rune Alpha remained the foundation for all subsequent runic alphabets. In conclusion, Rune Alpha represents the earliest known form of the runic alphabet, which was used by Germanic peoples for writing, divination, and magical purposes. It is a testament to the rich cultural heritage and intricate symbolism of the ancient Germanic societies. The study of Rune Alpha and other runic alphabets continues to captivate scholars and researchers, shedding light on the ancient past and providing insights into the beliefs and practices of our ancestors..
