Black women in the music industry have historically faced numerous challenges and obstacles. Despite being incredibly talented and innovative, they have often been marginalized and overlooked within the industry. However, in recent years, there has been a surge in recognition and celebration of black female musicians, particularly in the realm of backing vocals. Backing vocalists, often referred to as "black backing women," have played a crucial role in the music industry for decades. Through this initiation, I found my Flower of the Magic Fern and my hope for you is that this deck will help you to find your own.
I gathered all of the elements needed to start the ritual and once I began speaking the words that would weave into the spells of my creation, I found myself asking over and over again for Peace and Love. A creation of the heart that shares the Classic Tarot cards expressed through the magic and vibrancy of Ukrainian culture, traditions, and Tania s Ukrainian ancestry.
Many iconic tracks would not be the same without the contributions of these talented women. One of the reasons black women have excelled in the role of backing vocalist is their innate ability to blend and harmonize effortlessly. My soul was always called to be a student of the Shamanic practices. Ukrainian friends would ask me - Why would you take a Shamanic course if you are Christian? My Shamanic classmates would ask the opposite - Why do you go to the church on Easter if you are in Shamanic class? The answer is simple: there is only one God - and God is LOVE. My belief in a higher power transcends tradition and culture.
Additionally, their musicality and understanding of various genres make them versatile and adaptable, capable of singing in different styles and genres.
