Enhance Your Tactical Decisions in Bannerlord with the Divination Mod

By admin

Bannerlord Divination Mod is a popular modification for the game Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. This mod adds a unique feature to the game, allowing players to engage in divination activities. Divination refers to the practice of seeking guidance or insight into the future through supernatural tools or abilities. With the Bannerlord Divination Mod, players can now interact with in-game diviners and have their fortunes told. These diviners use various methods such as tarot cards, crystal balls, or tea leaves to predict the future. Players can approach these diviners and ask specific questions about their fate or the outcome of certain events.

Sacrifice: Nobles/rulers of the religion can practice human or animal sacrifice at their settlements (towns/castles). Peaceful religions with this doctrine can practice animal sacrifice, but never human sacrifice. Sacrifice is used to curry favor with the religion's god(s) in the hopes of gaining blessings for a coming war, for prosperity, for love. Aggressive religions can sacrifice imprisoned troops and nobles.

In the case of religions with a singular religious head, that head makes the sole determination of whether the noble is worthy; with Temporal leadership, if you are the religious head, you can decide. Dog Mushers is one example, which reduces travel speed and improved safety in forests and taiga, unlocked with the Dog Sleds innovation that came with the North Atlantic Flavor Pack.

Bannerlord divination mod

Players can approach these diviners and ask specific questions about their fate or the outcome of certain events. The mod adds a new interface where players can select the type of divination they wish to engage in. They can choose between different divination methods and receive unique readings based on their selections.

Announcing RICE's 2023 roadmap for Q2 / Q3. and a chance for you to vote for a future flavor pack!

The release of the Tours & Tournaments DLC is just around the corner, so I want to share a rough road map for RICE for the next few months. First, I am happy to reveal RICE's next flavor pack: Tuareg: People of the Veil! This small update will come with the RICE patch to T&T, and focus on minor flavor for the Amazigh (or Berber) peoples, particularly the Tuaregs. I will be busy around the time of T&T's release, but hope to have the next version out by the end of May, depending on how long it takes to update.

After this will be a small or medium sized flavor pack for India. Where, you ask? That could be up to you!* We're doing something never done before for RICE: a poll where you vote* for your pick of flavor pack! Respondents for the 2023 VIET/RICE survey, which will be out soon™, can vote for their pick in South Asia from several pre-selected candidates as part of the survey. This flavor pack will be a cross-promotion with the upcoming update for The Fallen Eagle mod, Beyond the Vistula and Indus, which focuses on revamping the Slavs and India for the late antiquity setting. Stay tuned for more info and a link to the survey when it's up later in May!

Announcement on the VIET/RICE Update to the 1.9 Patch/Tours & Tournaments

I'll get the most important thing out of the way first: VIET & RICE are currently not compatible with the new patch/DLC. Even though they may seem to work at first, do not attempt to play with VIET/RICE unless you know what you're doing as it will be buggy and may result in CTDs.

Now, it's time to come out clean. I've been part of a grand conspiracy, one hidden from most: I actually have already been working on updating much of VIET and RICE to 1.9/T&T before today. Many thanks to Paradox Interactive for giving me the opportunity to do so.

Unfortunately, given the extensive rework to activities, even this was not enough time to finish updating by today. I'm hoping to finish by the end of the month, regardless, and will keep you posted.

For now, I will leave you with a teaser for what I've managed to achieve so far (and more teasers will be out in the coming days). Can you guess what these three activity options are?

The previous teasers were a little skimpy so I'll show something more substantial – examples of special options for some of RICE's activities. Not every activity gets this flashy screen, but some certainly will.

Anyways, more teasers are incoming and I'm hoping for a dev diary in a few days.

What's in today's small little teasers? First, RICE activities will also come with new unique intents, though unlike vanilla intents these are more for flavor and aren't substantial in terms of gameplay. Can you guess which activity this intent is for?

Next, good bois are coming to RICE!

Thanks; I can see the ones on twitter. (This device uses Safari; don’t know why the images don’t show. The device is fully supported and up to date. No matter, though!)

And iiiiick, the top picture from May 11 is a tick! One of my parents majored in entomology, so I am unperturbed by most insects (to the considerable disappointment of classmates who thought they could scare me, hah no!), but I despise ticks! Lyme disease disabled one family member, and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever brought another right up to the point of death. So I hate ticks. And I’m curious to see what they have to do with an activity! Someone went out where deer or cattle linger…a new hunting event, then? Hmmmm.

I have not heard about any mod to use the new activity system for coronations, but I have heard modders talking about that possibility. I also know the vanilla devs have said they did consider having coronations for this DLC, but decided not to focus on it for now. So hopefully we'll see them in the game at some point, whether through a mod or through a vanilla/DLC addition!

Going to Scarborough Fair
57 Badges Jul 14, 2012 8.243 4.409 RICE Dev Diary #35:
Tuareg Flavor Pack and Updating RICE
to the Tours & Tournaments DLC

Today's dev diary covers RICE's update to the Tours and Tournaments patch, and the accompanying small flavor pack, Tuareg: People of the Veil.

Many thanks firstly to Paradox Interactive for giving me a head start on updating my mods. Unfortunately, due to IRL commitments, and the extensive work needed to update to T&T, this update is not available yet. Still, I am very excited to bring RICE up to speed with the newest patch and hope to officially release RICE 1.9.0 “Tagelmust” later this May!

Lastly, if you have played the VIET or RICE mods before, please consider taking the 2023 VIET/RICE survey, which will close later in May. It is your chance to provide feedback on these mods, and at the end of the survey is an opportunity for you to vote* for your pick for a future South Asian flavor pack which will come out after the Tuareg update.

*Vote is non-binding

Now, onto the next update! The focus of the Tuareg flavor pack is, unsurprisingly, the Tuaregs, one of the more famous groups within the wider umbrella of the Amazigh (or Berber) peoples.

Tuareg culture now appears in the game and has a unique tradition, Kel Tagelmust, which has a few effects. It enforces monogamy, allows for equal gender inheritance, and makes the Dream Incubation activity cheaper (more on that later). The tradition is available only to the Tuaregs and cultures descended from them.

Historical Decisions

Although the Tuaregs did not emerge as a distinct identity until late in the CK3 timeframe (to my knowledge), tribes who are direct ancestors of the Tuaregs are of course in vanilla, like the veiled Sanhaja or Massufa. As such, by default, Tuareg culture isn't present initially at game start and must be "created" via the decision to Establish Tuareg Homeland, which is available to any sufficiently powerful Berber ruler who owns certain counties in the southern Sahara.

Taking the decision will put the Tuaregs on the map and, of course, convert you to Tuareg culture as well.

Since interpreting the history of cultures and identities for the CK3 context is a tricky, complicated issue, one could make the reasonable argument that the ancestors of the Tuareg should exist as Tuareg culture at game start as opposed to the default discussed above. As such, there is a new game rule to customize the emergence of the Tuaregs in various ways. Some options will override other mods' implementation of the Tuaregs, while the default option does not.

At the tail end of CK3's timeframe, some Tuareg tribes formed a kingdom centered on the city of Agadez, called the Sultanate of Agadez or the Sultanate of Aïr. You now have a chance to surpass the real life extent of the Sultanate of Aïr with an alt history decision to Unite the Tuaregs. It is available to any sufficiently powerful Tuareg ruler.

It will grant you the Empire of Aïr, among other things, such as a county modifier in your capital, the Tuareg Heartland, which gives a little boost to tax and development.

Dream Incubation

Dream divination, particularly at tombs, has been a custom among many Amazigh peoples for centuries. For instance, Herodotus reported that the Nasamones, an ancient Libyan tribe, would sleep at the tombs of their forebears before making important decisions. The dreams they had would help them determine what course of action to take.

Anyhow, making use of the new activity system from T&T is the Dream Incubation activity. It is available to anyone of a culture with Berber heritage, or a faith in the Amazigh religion. With the activity, you can potentially get modifiers that help you in various ways, depending on whether you seek counsel in personal, political, or communal matters.

Additionally, you can choose to sleep at the tomb of a random notable, your purported ancestor, or a local saint. The latter two are more expensive, but increase the chances of a successful result. Sleeping at an ancestor's tomb grants a small renown bonus regardless of whether you get a modifier, while that of a local saint gives a small prestige and piety bonus.

Lastly, your choice of location influences your bonuses. Sleeping out in the wilderness (i.e. a tribal holding or an area without a holding) will grant you an additional, guaranteed piety or prestige bonus at the end. Temple holdings increase chances of success when sleeping at a saint's tomb, while towns do the same for ancestors.

Activities for RICE

Dream Incubation isn't the only activity in RICE that will be adapted to the new system. Many of the older activities have been adapted.

Several will even be revamped with new tweaks and features. For instance, the life liberation decision introduced in the Magadha flavor pack now lets you choose where to do it, between a private ceremony, at a temple, or in public, with varying effects, on top of the original choice between the animals you want to liberate, which is now an activity option.

If I had to be honest, the new activity interface is a great way to make RICE’s activities look more substantial than they are! Old activities haven't changed significantly – they still mostly play the same as they had in previous versions of RICE, partly as I wanted to update as quickly as possible, and partly as the existing content sufficed as is. Overall, don't expect RICE activities to be anywhere near as impressive nor complex as vanilla's, but they will hopefully be fun flavor nonetheless.

The old decisions that have been changed the most are those related to hot springs. They are now all bundled under one master activity, the Hot Springs Visit. Instead of separate decisions, you now directly choose to go to the special hot springs if they are in your realm. If there are no special hot springs available or you’re unwilling to travel that far, you can go to a non-special, generic hot springs in any province to lose some stress, but you won’t get any extra bonuses obviously. Besides the existing locations in RICE, a new unique hot springs location has been added to Tafafek in Agadez. Lastly, you can choose between doing a public or private visit – the former gives you a little prestige, but the latter reduces stress even more.

Many older pilgrimage decisions in RICE will also be reworked similarly to be under one master activity, the Local Pilgrimage, but it only allows you to go to preset places instead of anywhere. Regardless, work has not started on it yet, because as of me writing this, I have only updated about two thirds of RICE’s old activity decisions (roughly 99% of my work updating RICE to the new patch is from updating the activities, to give an idea of how involved it is).

To tease more, here are a few screenshots of some other revamped RICE activities. If you've played RICE before, I'm sure they'll help give a new fresh coat of paint for the old activities and events!

Other Changes

There will be other changes to accompany the update. For example, some traditions will be updated to provide bonuses related to travel speed and safety.

Some content from the Rajas of Asia mod will be integrated as well (with permission), mainly ROA’s various Siberian paganisms. Further integration of ROA miscellany will hopefully come later this year as I revamp and add to previous RICE content for the Silk Road and the Indian Ocean. (For anyone wondering, RICE has been compatible with ROA for a good while now.)

A few new travel options will also be added based on previously added content for RICE, such as traditions or innovations. Dog Mushers is one example, which reduces travel speed and improved safety in forests and taiga, unlocked with the Dog Sleds innovation that came with the North Atlantic Flavor Pack. Hopefully they will make things feel flavorful or more unique as you travel around the world!

VIET/RICE Survey

Speaking of the Indian Ocean… as a reminder, please check out the VIET/RICE 2023 Survey if you have time! The survey closes later in May. Similar to the survey done in 2022, it’s meant to gauge players’ thoughts on various aspects of these mods. This year, I’m particularly interested in impressions of RICE’s struggles, among other things.

As mentioned earlier, the survey is also an opportunity for you to vote* for your pick for a future RICE flavor pack in South Asia which will be a cross-promotion with the upcoming Slavic/India update for The Fallen Eagle mod. It will be part of a cross-promotion with the upcoming update for The Fallen Eagle mod, Beyond the Vistula and Indus, which focuses on the Slavs and India for the late antiquity setting.

Announcement on the VIET/RICE Update to the 1.9 Patch/Tours & Tournaments
Bannerlord divination mod

These readings provide players with hints or predictions about upcoming battles, quests, or general game events. The Bannerlord Divination Mod also introduces new items and equipment related to divination. Players can acquire special items like tarot decks, crystal balls, or oracle bones that enhance their divination abilities. These items can be obtained through quests, exploration, or purchasing them from specific vendors in the game. Additionally, the mod adds new characters and locations related to divination. Players can encounter fortune tellers in taverns or find hidden mystical locations where they can receive powerful divinations. These encounters add a mystical and immersive element to the game, allowing players to explore the supernatural aspects of the Bannerlord world. Overall, the Bannerlord Divination Mod adds an exciting and unique aspect to Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord. It offers players a chance to engage in divination activities, receive predictions about their fate, and explore the mystical side of the game world. This mod enhances the gameplay experience and adds an additional layer of depth and intrigue to the already immersive game..

Reviews for "Immerse Yourself in the World of Divination in Bannerlord"

1. John - 2/5 - I downloaded the Bannerlord divination mod hoping for an enhanced gameplay experience, but I was sorely disappointed. The mod promised to add a unique divination system to the game, but it ended up being more of a nuisance than a feature. The constant pop-ups and interruptions made it impossible to fully immerse myself in the game. Additionally, the predictions and insights provided by the mod were often inaccurate and didn't add any real value to my gameplay. Overall, I found the Bannerlord divination mod to be more of a distraction rather than an enhancement.
2. Sarah - 1/5 - I simply cannot recommend the Bannerlord divination mod. Not only did it make my game crash multiple times, but the supposed divination system was completely underwhelming. The predictions it provided were often vague and nonsensical, and had no real impact on the gameplay. The mod also caused significant lag and slowed down the overall performance of the game. I ended up uninstalling it after just a few hours of frustration. Save yourself the trouble and skip this mod altogether.
3. Alex - 2/5 - I was excited to try out the Bannerlord divination mod as it promised to add a whole new level of depth to the game. However, after giving it a try, I was left disappointed. The divination system felt half-baked and poorly implemented. The predictions it provided were inconsistent and often didn't align with the actual outcome in the game. It felt like a mere gimmick that added unnecessary complexity without any real benefit. I hope the mod developer can improve upon it in the future, but for now, I would advise against using the Bannerlord divination mod.
