Back in the early days of computing, there was a rather unusual and now mostly forgotten device called the "backimh pc t r ack." This peculiar device was used to track the movements of users as they interacted with a computer system. I'm coming up on my 3rd year anniversary of using backing/production tracks gigging weekly with it. Unfortunately all of the "canned" options fell well short of what I needed so I did what every major act has done and incorporated a laptop as the core of my system and wouldn't change it even now as there are no off the shelf solutions that can do what's necessary to be a complete system. Here's what I deem to be a "complete" system.

The device would then translate these movements into input commands that the computer could understand.

While the backimh pc t r ack showed promise in terms of its potential for computer interaction, it ultimately failed to gain widespread adoption. There were several reasons for this. Firstly, the device was relatively expensive and not widely available, which limited its accessibility to the general public. As the field of computer interaction evolved, other input devices and techniques such as the mouse, trackpad, and touchscreens became more popular and efficient.
