GameStop vs specialized game stores: where to find the best Magic cards

By admin

Magic cards are not typically sold at GameStop..

Ahhhh, I remember buying tons of Ruby and Sapphire packs for like, $2 when they stopped stocking cards.

My friend told me that they were selling X and Y booster packs at a Gamestop, so I called a different Gamestop and asked them if they had Pokemon cards, and they did. While GameStop is best known as a provider of gaming and home entertainment systems, we also offer a wide array of products and devices that are important to facilitate remote work, distance learning, and virtual connectivity While there are many businesses and organizations far more critical than ours, we believe we can have a positive impact during this very challenging time.

Pokemon Booster Packs being sold at Gamestop

My friend told me that they were selling X and Y booster packs at a Gamestop, so I called a different Gamestop and asked them if they had Pokemon cards, and they did. They had a single booster box, and they weren't being advertised at all, it was just sitting behind the counter. I asked one of the employees what was up with the sudden Pokemon cards, and he said that he just came in that morning and there they were. So weird. But yes, they sell them online too. It just seems like if they were going to make this a thing that they would advertise for it.

They used to sell them back in the old days when Neo Genesis was out. Man I miss those days. I remember pretending to go out with my friends for lunch and my parents would give me 20$ and I would blow it all on Pokemon packs.

But that was when they were only 2 or 3$. not 4.25. plus I'm not a big fan of the newest sets so sadly I'll have to pass. What I wouldn't give to travel back in time.

Kind of want to buy a pack just to say, "Gamestop Pack!" again. haha.

Does anybody know if this is at ALL Gamestops, or just certain local stores? I would love to get packs from there considering I have some leftover money on my gift card AND I'm apart of their rewards program.

It'd be cool if you could redeem your points for Pokemon packs online, but who knows if they'd ever do that.

I don't know, but it seems like this is becoming a thing. God knows why it's just the Pokemon TCG. They could make a lot of money off of Magic and other TCGs.

EB Games (owned by Gamestop) has been stocking Pokemon, MTG, Yugioh, and Cardfight Vanguard for a while (since at least this time last year - when I got back into the Pokemon TCG).

Of course, Pokemon boosters are often $6 and I have to hassle them to pricematch to obscure TCG specialty stores to bring it down to $5 so it's still a little expensive, but at least Australia's on the ball with this stuff.

Oh, and there was a dry spell from like Xmas til the XY release where all Pokemon TCG stock was gone (in all stores, not just EB). Seems like the popularity is definitely rising.

I saw this at my local game stop when I went to pick up EDF and it made me sad.

I have sellers remorse already.

New Zealand is the hardest place to get a large amount of cards, packs are $8.00 at the least.
EB Games is ok for cards, but normally I just go to Pulsar Max (a figure and collectible shop) and they have a good amount of boxes like the Deoxys and Legendary Dragons of Unova. They have Next Destinies packs, but no Dragons Exalted. Why? D:

^ Ahhh there is a thing called being out of stock XD. I usually buy singles, but whenever I get any EB games vouchers I head over to buy some packs now that they stock them.

Just saw this on my Twitter feed:

Guess TCG packs are in all stores now? Woo!

Each card comes with a Free Pet. The pets change each month and the pet you receive depends on when you REDEEM the card, not when you PURCHASE the card. Prepaid game cards cannot be combined for larger purchases and cannot be used to unlock Open Chat. After purchased and activated in the store, prepaid game cards can be redeemed in Wizard101 at a later time.

I was disappointed to find out that Gamestop does not sell magic cards. I went to the store expecting to find some new cards for my collection, but unfortunately, they only had video games and gaming accessories. It would have been helpful if their website mentioned that they do not carry magic cards, so I wouldn't have wasted my time going to the store.

As a regular customer at Gamestop, I was excited to hear that they might start stocking magic cards. However, when I asked about it at the store, the staff seemed clueless and unaware of any plans to sell magic cards. It was frustrating to get my hopes up only to be let down. I hope Gamestop improves their communication between staff and customers to avoid such disappointments in the future.

I have been a loyal Gamestop customer for years, but their lack of magic cards is a major disappointment. Many other game stores offer a wide variety of magic cards and accessories, so it's frustrating that Gamestop is behind the curve. I was hoping they would diversify their product range, but it seems like they are not interested in catering to the needs of magic card enthusiasts. I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

I was excited to find out that Gamestop might start selling magic cards, but after visiting multiple stores and checking their website, it is clear that they do not carry them. It's a shame because Gamestop is a convenient option for purchasing gaming-related items, and having magic cards in their inventory would have been great. I hope they reconsider and add magic cards to their product lineup in the future to cater to a wider range of customers' interests.
