The Chicago Magicians Guild: Masters of Deception

By admin

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to attend a truly **tricky Chicago magic performance**. The magician, known as The Illusionist, was highly acclaimed and had gained quite a following. The show took place in a small theater in the heart of Chicago, creating an intimate atmosphere for the audience. As the lights dimmed, the room filled with anticipation and excitement. The Illusionist made a grand entrance, captivating everyone's attention with his charismatic demeanor. One of the **highlight tricks** of the evening was the classic illusion of sawing a woman in half.

RAVE REVIEWS for THE MAGIC PARLOUR
“You’ll be mightily impressed! ”
– Chris Jones, Chicago Tribune

“A perfect evening of illusion and laughter… The Magic Parlour transformed a roomful of tired adults into wide-eyed, wide awake innocents. And that in itself is Watkins’ most impressive trick.
—Chicago Theater Beat

“This late-night magic show is exactly what it should be: funny, lively, intimate, and utterly baffling.”
—The Chicago Reader

“This was an evening of classy, sophisticated, and absolutely mind-blowing close-up magic intertwined with Dennis’s fascinating (and amusing) stories about how he became a magician… I came here not knowing what to expect but had an amazing time, and I have NO idea how he did ANY of the magic tricks, but they were unbelievable. I HIGHLY recommend going to see this show!”

“This was perfect. Perfect venue, perfect magician. I just can’t possibly comprehend how he does some of these things. See this.”
—Jason M on Yelp

The first "Magic Parlour" was at the hotel in early 2011; before then an earlier iteration played in the basement of the Chopin Theatre, the home of the House Theatre of Chicago of which Watkins was (and remains) a founding member. Watkins, himself a third-generation Chicago magician, has also been on "Penn & Teller: Fool Us" on the CW Network and has starred in multiple runs of the play "Death & Harry Houdini" (think Water Torture Cell).

Throughout the performance, The Illusionist continued to wow the crowd with his incredible **sleight of hand**. From making cards appear out of thin air to making objects disappear and reappear, his magic tricks seemed truly impossible. One particularly **mind-boggling** trick involved a deck of cards. The Illusionist shuffled the deck and invited a member of the audience to pick a card. After memorizing the card and placing it back into the deck, The Illusionist proceeded to shuffle the cards again. To everyone's amazement, he was able to find the exact card that had been chosen, seemingly reading their minds. The **grand finale** of the evening was a vanishing act that left the audience in awe. With a wave of his hand, The Illusionist disappeared into thin air, leaving nothing behind but a cloud of smoke. The crowd erupted into applause, amazed by his magical abilities. Overall, the **tricky Chicago magic performance** by The Illusionist was a night filled with wonder and excitement. His skillful illusions and captivating stage presence left the audience in awe. Each trick was flawlessly executed, leaving everyone questioning how it was all possible. It was an unforgettable experience that truly showcased the artistry and skill of the world of magic..
