Unraveling the Secrets of Thlmas and the Magic Railtoad Archive

By admin

Thomas and the Magic Railroad is a 2000 British-American fantasy adventure film directed by Britt Allcroft and starring Alec Baldwin, Peter Fonda, Mara Wilson, and Didi Conn. The film is based on the children's television series Thomas & Friends and features both live-action and animated elements. The story follows Thomas the Tank Engine as he embarks on a magical adventure to save the Magic Railroad, a special railway that provides energy to the Island of Sodor. Thomas teams up with his friends and human counterpart, Mr. Conductor, played by Alec Baldwin, to defeat the evil Diesel 10 and restore balance to the railway. The Magic Railroad archive is a key element in the film.

I m actually working on a Magic Railroad edit myself with the blu-ray scenes for practice with editing scenes together seamlessly and for practicing Avisynth. The workprint was given to a documentary crew by Mattel Who were not supposed to because they don t own the rights, Sony does One of the people working on the documentary sent it to a bunch of his friends I ve heard a varying amount of people he gave it to, but I ve heard around 10 and it spread from there.

The Magic Railroad archive is a key element in the film. It is a hidden repository of the Island of Sodor's history and contains the source of the railway's magic. The archive holds the missing gold dust that powers the Magic Railroad and allows trains to travel between the real world and the Island of Sodor.

Thomas And The Magic Railroad Extended Cut

Edit: The Shout Factory Blu-Ray that just came out has a ton of new scenes not included in the movie, or the workprint. I will be making a version 2 in a few weeks with every scene available to create an ultimate version of the film.

Here it is, the great "Thomas And The Magic Railroad Extended Cut" also known as the Rough Cut or Director's Cut this is based off of a workprint that leaked a while back.

What makes this different from the workprint that leaked?

This is an edited version, similar to projects like The Thief And The Cobbler Recobbled Cut. I have inserted shots from the Amazon Prime release of the film where ever the same shots are used, along with that I have cleaned up the workprint using Avisynth. After cleanup I finished some of the special effects that were left unfinished in the workprint. Then I created a custom audio mix using the workprint audio and the 5.1 mix from the Official DVD.

What has changed?

-Lily is the Narrator instead of Mr. Conductor

-Most scenes are in a different order than they appeared in the Theatrical cut.
-All scenes with PT Boomer have been added back, along with the original storyline which heavily involved him.
-The movie has a greater emphesis on the live action segments, with some of the scenes on Sodor from the theatrical cut missing on the extended cut.
-All voice actors have changed (Note: this uses scratch/placeholder audio for most of the trains, so the voices can switch between shots. There is no way to fix this without access to a later workprint)

Why are you releasing this now? Wasn't this leaked?

I was going to keep this private however people started leaking the original workprint this edit is based on. Along with that people have gone on a crusade to take the workprint down, which has only caused a Streisand effect of it becoming more known and popular, Britt and Mattel already know about the leak so there is no reason to try to hide it now. Also people have been accusing some guy named Joseph about leaking the workprint. I just want to say he is NOT the one who leaked the footage. The workprint was given to a documentary crew by Mattel (Who were not supposed to because they don't own the rights, Sony does) One of the people working on the documentary sent it to a bunch of his friends (I've heard a varying amount of people he gave it to, but I've heard around 10) and it spread from there. I've heard that it originally started spreading around December, I personally got my copy in January.

What does this release include?
-1080p Restored version of the Thomas And The Magic Railroad Extended cut.
-High Quality reconstructed Stereo audio track based on the Theatrical 5.1 audio mix

-Original Workprint/Scratch audio

Update: this is a reupload as the original was taken down. Also high quality versions of the deleted scenes will be included on the upcoming official Blu-Ray, please support the official release

Reviews for "The Journey of Thlmas and the Magic Railtoad Archive: From Page to Screen"

1. John - 1/5 stars
I found "Thomas and the Magic Railroad" to be an incredibly disappointing film. The story was poorly written and lacked any depth or originality. The characters were flat and uninteresting, and the dialogue was for the most part cheesy and uninspired. The animation was also lackluster, with stiff movements and a noticeable lack of detail. Overall, I was extremely bored throughout the entire movie and would not recommend it to anyone, especially fans of the "Thomas & Friends" series.
2. Sarah - 2/5 stars
As a fan of the "Thomas & Friends" television series, I had high hopes for "Thomas and the Magic Railroad." However, I was let down by the film's confusing plot and inconsistent character development. The movie seemed to be targeted towards a younger audience, with simplistic dialogue and predictable storytelling. The addition of Alec Baldwin as a narrator felt forced and unnecessary. While there were some visually appealing scenes, they were not enough to redeem the overall lackluster experience. I would suggest sticking to the original TV series for a more enjoyable and engaging "Thomas & Friends" experience.
3. Michael - 2/5 stars
"Thomas and the Magic Railroad" was a disappointing adaptation of the beloved "Thomas & Friends" series. The plot lacked coherence and failed to hold my attention. The voice acting felt disconnected and lacked the charm of the original series. The film also introduced unnecessary new characters that distracted from the core cast of characters. While the visuals were decent, they were not enough to make up for the film's other shortcomings. Overall, I would not recommend this movie to anyone, especially those familiar with the original TV series.
