The Wicked Witch's Curse Broken: Rebuilding in her Aftermath

By admin

Yesterday, the long-standing reign of the wicked witch finally came to an end. For years, the people of the kingdom have lived in fear and darkness under her malicious rule. Her tyranny and malevolence knew no bounds as she ruthlessly oppressed the innocent and wreaked havoc wherever she went. However, the day of reckoning has arrived, bringing with it a glimmer of hope. The courageous heroes of the realm, armed with valor and determination, embarked on a perilous quest to rid their land of this wicked menace. Countless battles were fought, each one a step closer to liberation.

It is stated in Baum's book that the Wicked Witch of the West was so old and Wicked that all the blood in her body dried up long before The Wonderful Wizard of Oz takes place. And when she fnally comes into contact with water, it burns her skin like acid and she dissolves into a puddle on the floor. Baum described it as "melting away like brown sugar." In the beginning of the story when Dorothy's farmhouse fell on the Wicked Witch of the East, her body soon caved in and crumbled to dust under the fallen establishment. (The feet of the dead Wicked Witch had disappeared entirely and nothing was left but the Silver Shoes.) The Good Witch of the North explains that "She was so old that she dried up quickly in the sun." So whatever mysterious magic potion or spell that was holding the Wicked Witch of the East together was possibly something the Wicked Witch of the West used to keep herself alive as well, even though Baum never elaborated upon this aspect.

We are first introduced to the character formally, when she arrives in munchkin land only to find that her sister the Wicked Witch of the East has been killed by having a house dropped on her. It is hard to say from this scene whether the Wicked Witch has any kind of compassion at all, when she sees that her sister has been killed she does not seem saddened, only angry.

Countless battles were fought, each one a step closer to liberation. Their unwavering dedication and unity proved to be their greatest strength, as they faced insurmountable odds, emerging victorious each time. The wicked witch's power seemed unyielding, her dark magic creating obstacles at every turn.

Was The Wizard of Oz Cursed? The Truth Behind the Dark Stories About the Judy Garland Classic

T hursday marks 80 years since the Aug. 15, 1939, Hollywood premiere of the film classic The Wizard of Oz, the story of a tornado that hits Kansas and transports a young girl named Dorothy, played by Judy Garland, to a magical place called Oz, where she embarks on a journey to track down the wizard who can help her go home.

The Hollywood studio MGM had pulled out all of the stops for the movie, spending $3 million (about $55 million today), desperate to match the commercial success of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. And it worked: The film won two Academy Awards for its music — “Over the Rainbow” won best original song and made Judy Garland famous— in addition to earning nominations for best picture, best cinematography, art direction and special effects. Commercially speaking it made decent money when it was released, but made even more money after CBS aired it for the first time on Nov. 3, 1956.

By 1967, TIME could declare that it had become “the most popular single film property in the history of U.S. television.” The movie had made Garland a “national legend,” the magazine continued.

But despite its commercial success, The Wizard of Oz is seen by some as cursed. There were so many serious accidents on set that those Oscar-nominated special effects almost cost cast members their lives, from the two actors playing winged monkeys crashing to the ground when the wires that hoisted them up in the air broke, to the Wicked Witch of the West’s stunt double Betty Danko injuring her left leg when the broomstick exploded.

“Some of these special effects had never been done before,” says Aljean Harmetz, a former New York Times Hollywood correspondent who wrote The Making of The Wizard of Oz, which revealed the disastrous filmmaking process. “There were no unions, at that time. Stars and lesser players were indentured servants [for] studios.”

But not everything you may have heard about problems on the set is true. “I think it had a basis in truth and it was magnified,” says Anne Edwards, author of Judy Garland: A Biography.

Here’s what’s real and what’s myth in some of the most popular theories:

The wicked witch has been eradicated

However, the heroes were undeterred, for they knew that the fate of their beloved kingdom rested upon their shoulders. With unwavering resolve, they pressed on, facing danger and uncertainty with each passing moment. Finally, after an arduous journey filled with triumphs and setbacks, the heroes faced the wicked witch in a climactic battle. The clash of steel and the surge of magic filled the air as the forces of good clashed with the forces of evil. It was a battle for the very soul of the kingdom, a battle that would determine the course of their future. With a final, resounding blow, the heroes vanquished the wicked witch, putting an end to her reign of terror once and for all. The kingdom erupted in cheers and celebrations, as the heavy burden that had weighed upon them for so long was lifted. The people no longer lived in fear, for they knew that the era of darkness had finally come to an end. As the news of the wicked witch's demise spread far and wide, neighboring kingdoms rejoiced, offering their congratulations and support to the newly liberated land. Unity and hope were restored, as the people began to rebuild their lives and cultivate a brighter future. The eradication of the wicked witch serves as a reminder to all that evil can be defeated, no matter how seemingly invincible it may appear. It is a testament to the strength and resilience of the human spirit, as well as the power of unity and determination. The people of the kingdom will forever remember this defining moment in their history, cherishing the heroes who fought tirelessly for their freedom. Their courage and sacrifice will serve as a beacon of inspiration for generations to come. In the end, the wicked witch may have been eradicated, but the spirit of hope and resilience she inadvertently nurtured lives on in the hearts of those she once oppressed. This victory is not just the defeat of a tyrant, but the triumph of the human spirit against all odds..
