The Unexplained Deaths: The Haunting Power of the Pharaoh's Curse

By admin

The pharaoh's curse is a belief that people who disturb or desecrate the tombs of ancient Egyptian pharaohs or other important figures will suffer bad luck, illness, or death. This curse first gained attention in the early 20th century when a series of mysterious deaths and illnesses occurred shortly after the opening of the tomb of King Tutankhamun. According to legend, anyone who entered the tomb of King Tut would be afflicted by a curse, as a way to protect the sacred resting place of the pharaoh. The curse was said to be written on a stone tablet near the entrance of the tomb, warning of dire consequences for those who disturbed the eternal rest of the pharaoh and his treasures. The reality of the curse was fueled by the deaths of some of the people involved in the excavation and opening of the tomb. Lord Carnarvon, the financial backer of the expedition, died shortly after the tomb was opened and many speculated that his death was a result of the curse.

Lord Carnarvon, the financial backer of the expedition, died shortly after the tomb was opened and many speculated that his death was a result of the curse. Other members of the expedition also fell ill or died under mysterious circumstances, further adding to the belief in the curse. However, modern scientific analysis has largely debunked the idea of a pharaoh's curse.

Vin Diesel tasked with hunting down witches

Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment have released the first trailer for Breck Eisner‘s The Last Witch Hunter, starring Vin Diesel as the titular character, who is tasked with preventing a coven of witches from unleashing a plague on New York City.

Based on the trailer, the film looks like a culmination of Underworld, Blade, I, Frankenstein, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, and other contemporary supernatural hunter films. That being said, there is no reason to believe that this could not be any fun to watch. After all he will be joined by Julie Engelbrecht, Elijah Wood, Michael Caine, and Rose Leslie.

Check out the trailer below.

The tone of the film seems to indicate that it is striving to be a bit more serious than those modern day horror flicks.

The Last Witch Hunter opens in theaters this fall on October 23, 2015.

I had a glimmer of hope that The Last Witch Hunter might not be this bad. I’m always pushing for original properties to not be total garbage, and director Breck Eisner’s previous movies aren’t complete bombs. I would’ve settled for something at the level of Brett Ratner’s totally dumb but fun Hercules, but The Last Witch Hunter is heavy on the former and devoid of the latter. I will say this: it’s almost certainly better than that book I slaved away at as a child, the title of which I’ve long since forgotten, but I probably could’ve gotten away with calling it The Last Witch Hunter. ■
The pharaoha curse

The deaths and illnesses that occurred can be attributed to a variety of other factors, such as infections, accidents, or pre-existing health conditions. Furthermore, the alleged curse was not written anywhere in the tomb or its surroundings, and the idea of a supernatural curse is not supported by archaeological evidence. The belief in the pharaoh's curse continues to persist in popular culture, with many movies, books, and documentaries exploring the idea. It taps into our fascination with ancient Egypt, the mysterious powers of the pharaohs, and the consequences of disturbing ancient tombs. However, it is important to recognize that the pharaoh's curse is a myth and not supported by scientific evidence..
