Wicca is a modern pagan, witchcraft religion that emerged in the mid-20th century. Its practices are influenced by various ancient pagan traditions, including those of the Greeks. Recently, there has been a growing interest in incorporating Greek gods into Wiccan rituals and beliefs. In traditional Wicca, practitioners often focus on Celtic deities and mythology. However, many Wiccans have started to explore the Greek pantheon and incorporate Greek gods into their spiritual practices. This trend may be attributed to the popularity of Greek mythology and the accessibility of information through books and the internet.
In addition to these are Hades and Hestia. Hades is the God of the underworld, who took this area for his realm when the world was divided between him and his brothers, with Zeus ruling from the sky and Poseidon ruling the ocean. But Hades is still a very important God and holds a prominent place within the Greek pantheon. Hestia is the Goddess of the Hearth, who voluntarily gave up her place on Olympus so that she could dwell among humanity. Because of her care for humankind, she is afforded special favours in the homes of Hellenes, being given the libations before each meal and receiving prayers each day. This is certainly not the limit of Greek deities that may be honoured. There are a great many more, such as Pan, Priapus and the Fates, to name but a few.
The best example is the Hero Achilles, whose greatness was recognised by the Gods who allowed him to avoid a regular human death and marry in the afterlife. As God of War, this is his primary centre of concern, but he also takes interest in issues of strength, martial prowess and in some cases, assertive lust and virility.
This trend may be attributed to the popularity of Greek mythology and the accessibility of information through books and the internet. The inclusion of Greek gods in Wiccan rituals allows practitioners to connect with a different set of deities and tap into their unique energies and powers. For example, Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, may be invoked during rituals related to matters of the heart and relationships.

Living on the North Shore in Boston in the fall brings the gorgeous turning of the leaves and pumpkin patches. It is also a time for people to head to nearby Salem, Massachusetts, home of the 17th century infamous witch trials, and visit its popular museum.
Despite a troubled history, there are people today who consider themselves witches. Often, modern witches share their lore, craft and stories on TikTok and other social media platforms.
As a scholar who works on myth and poetry from ancient Greece – and as a native of New England – I have long been fascinated by the cultural conversations about witches. Witch trials in the Americas and Europe were in part about enforcing power structures and persecuting the weak. From ancient Greece through Puritan New England, witches functioned as easy targets for cultural anxieties about gender, power and mortality.
Similarly, Apollo, the god of music and poetry, may be called upon for creativity and inspiration. By combining Wiccan practices with the worship of Greek gods, practitioners are able to create a more personalized and eclectic spiritual practice. This blending of traditions allows individuals to connect with the gods that resonate with them the most and tap into their unique qualities and attributes. It is important to note that this recent trend of incorporating Greek gods into Wicca is not limited to just Greek deities. Some Wiccans also incorporate gods and goddesses from other pantheons, such as the Norse or Egyptian gods. This further emphasizes the flexibility and adaptability of the Wiccan religion. In conclusion, recent Wicca with the Greek gods is a growing trend within the Wiccan community. By incorporating Greek deities into their rituals and beliefs, practitioners are able to personalize their spiritual practice and tap into the unique qualities and energies of these gods. Additionally, the writing style was dry and lackluster, making it difficult to stay engaged with the content. Overall, I found this book to be a disappointment and would not recommend it to others looking to explore these topics.

The author's attempt to combine Wicca and Greek mythology felt forced and incoherent. Furthermore, the lack of structure and organization made it difficult to follow along and grasp any meaningful information. I regret spending my time and money on this book and would strongly advise others to steer clear.
