I recently had the opportunity to participate in a magical photoshoot in the charming town of Salem. This unique experience allowed me to capture images that truly embody the enchanting atmosphere of this historic place. As I arrived in Salem, I was immediately captivated by its old-world charm and mystical ambiance. The picturesque streets, lined with centuries-old buildings, set the perfect backdrop for our photoshoot. It felt like stepping into a different era, where witches and wizards roamed the cobblestone streets. The main aim of our photoshoot was to embrace the rich history and folklore of Salem while infusing a touch of modernity.

The main aim of our photoshoot was to embrace the rich history and folklore of Salem while infusing a touch of modernity. We had carefully planned each location beforehand, ensuring that every shot would portray the magic and mystery that Salem is known for. One of the highlights of the photoshoot was capturing images in the Salem Witch Trials Memorial.

You really start the fun by being asked what your favorite color is; Are you all about pink? Maybe teal is talking to you? Of course, you can never go wrong with all the black textiles!

At our iconic MAGICK AVE photo set! – Ascend into the saturated skies over a full pale-yellow moon on a seven-foot magic broomstick, Then, gaze into the crystal ball and cast spells in front of our liar, green and wicked with a grand staircase! For those of us who enjoy color, and the thrill of being a bit of a Disney villain this is for you. Your photographer will make you look like you’re soaring over the streets of Salem with ease and catch you in your clairvoyance as you read your crystal ball.

Witch Cottage is a theatrical set featuring the inside of … well … a Witch’s Cottage. With an apothecary shelf, altar table, and dried flowers adorning the walls, this is the perfect set for those of us who love making magic! Read Tarot? The cottage has a deck of cards for you! Love flora? The cottage is totally decked out in greenery to really connect you with Mother Earth.

The largest of the sets is named Olde Salem Village. This large theatrical set features the outside of the Witch Cottage, on the edge of a village inspired by 1626 Salem near a dark forest. Not only the largest, but the darkest of the sets, is best for those witches who really want to step into history (and possibly rewrite it). There have been rumors of witch craft surrounding the newcomer of Olde Salem Village … it’s all about YOU.

Know Before You Go:
- Witch Pix and many Salem attractions and events can book up during October. Please make reservations at witchpix.com ahead of your travel to ensure you can experience this unique activity during your visit.
- Bring your cell phone (and make sure it’s charged!) while visiting Salem to use the Salem app and make reservations on the go but please note that cell phone photography is not allowed while in the Witch Pix studio.
- Costumes are worn over your regular clothes. Wearing a tank top is easiest for changing into costumes. (We recommend dressing in layers anyway during Salem Haunted Happenings as the weather can vary during fall in New England.)

It was a hauntingly beautiful setting, and the energy resonated through the photographs we took there. Another memorable location was the Salem Common, a picturesque park surrounded by elegant houses and a white picket fence. This idyllic setting provided a stark contrast to the darker aspects of Salem's history, demonstrating the charming and peaceful side of the town. We also ventured into the infamous Derby Wharf, which offered stunning views of the harbor. The moody sky and the wharf's timeless charm created an ethereal atmosphere, adding an extra layer of enchantment to the photographs. During the photoshoot, we had the opportunity to work with talented models who truly brought the magic of Salem to life. Their costumes and makeup were meticulously chosen to reflect different aspects of Salem's history, from the Salem witches to the iconic characters from Nathaniel Hawthorne's novels. By blending the old and the new, we were able to create images that showcased Salem's rich folklore and magical allure while adding a contemporary twist. 1. Elizabeth - 2 stars - I had really high expectations for the Magical photoshoot in Salem, but unfortunately, it fell short. The concept seemed interesting, but the execution was lacking. The props and costumes were cheaply made, and the photographer seemed disinterested and unprofessional. It felt like a rushed and unorganized experience. I expected to have stunning and ethereal photos, but instead, I left feeling disappointed and let down. Overall, it was not worth the money, and I would not recommend it.
2. Michael - 1 star - I cannot emphasize enough how much I regret booking the Magical photoshoot in Salem. It was a complete waste of time and money. The photographer seemed inexperienced and had no direction or creativity. The location was uninspiring, and the props were worn out and looked cheap. We were promised a magical experience, but all we got were subpar photos that we could have taken ourselves. The whole thing felt like a scam, and I strongly advise against attending this event.
