Voodoo dolls can be used for all types of things, both positive and negative, but since it is Halloween, after all, I’m making mine a little more spooky and menacing…although they are still pretty darn cute, right? Toothpicks died blue, replace the traditional pins you see stuck into voodoo dolls, and they are really easy to create! I tried other colors too, but red turned out too pink and much too cute for these guys. You can switch up your “pins” and dye them any color you want, but I really liked how the blue color made them seem more like pins.

The dough for these Voodoo doll Halloween cookies is also not very sweet, so don’t feel bad about totally loading up on the decorating frosting to give the cookies a sweeter taste.

Here’s what you’ll need to make your own:

  • 2 Cups Flour
  • 3 Tsp. Sugar
  • 1 1/2 Sticks (3/4 Cups) Butter
  • 1/4 Tsp. Vanilla
  • 4 Tbsp. Water
  • Parchment Paper
  • Gingerbread Man Cookie Cutter
  • Blue Food Coloring
  • Toothpicks
  • Cookie Decorating Gel Tubes

In a small bowl, add 3-4 drops of blue food coloring to 1 cup of water. Place the toothpicks into the blue water and allow them to sit for a couple of hours to really soak up the color.

Remove from the water and allow them to dry completely before using.

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, combine the flour, butter, sugar, and vanilla.

Slowly add the water until a dough has formed.

On a lightly floured counter top or flat surface, roll out the dough until it is about 2mm thick.

Cut gingerbread men shapes out, using the cookie cutter, and place the cut-outs onto the parchment lined baking sheet.

Bake for 10 minutes, or until just slightly golden.

Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool completely.

Once the cookies have cooled, begin to decorate them with “voodoo doll” designs.

Once your toothpicks have dried completely, break each one of them in half and stick them into the decorated sugar cookies in random places. You can add more than one toothpick “pin” to each of the cookies too!

Give these fun Voodoo doll Halloween cookies out to friends or just enjoy the cookies all by yourself. But be careful…you never know which one might be a replica of you! 😉

Reviews for "Unlocking the Magic: Rituals for Halloween-Themed Voodoo Dolls"

1. John - 2 stars - I was really disappointed with the Halloween themed voodoo doll. The concept was intriguing, but the execution fell flat. The doll itself was poorly made with cheap materials, and the stitching started coming undone within a few minutes of playing with it. Additionally, the supposed "spooky" effects like glowing eyes and eerie sounds were extremely underwhelming. Overall, it was a waste of money and did not live up to the Halloween spirit.
2. Sarah - 1 star - I had high hopes for the Halloween themed voodoo doll, but it ended up being a complete letdown. First of all, the doll's design was not at all scary or impressive. It looked more like a cheap toy than a creepy Halloween decoration. Secondly, the doll didn't have any interactive features as advertised. There were no lights or sounds, just a plain, lifeless doll. The quality was also disappointing, as the stitching started coming undone after minimal use. Save your money and opt for a different Halloween decoration that actually delivers on its promises.
3. Alex - 3 stars - The Halloween themed voodoo doll was an average purchase for me. While it wasn't terrible, it also didn't wow me. The doll's design was a bit cliché and lacked originality. The quality was decent, but I expected better given the price. The supposed "spooky" features like glowing eyes and eerie sounds were there, but they were not particularly impressive or unique. Overall, it was an average Halloween decoration that didn't stand out from the crowd.
