This album's an obscure effort from the end of the 80s – recorded years after the group's initial hits in the 70s, but still with some tremendous harmonies that are very much at the top of their game! The set was done in collaboration with Rush Management, and has that bottom-beat slowjam feel that mellower soul often had at the time – but even such a mode can't stop the group from being great, as their vocals really sparkle and soar, regardless of the setting! There's a sweetness here that few other groups were showing at the time – that heartbreaking quality that always made a Blue Magic ballad so great, and which is amazingly still preserved here. Effect: The magician shows a deck of Bicycle cards - half are red, and half are blue. After showing the blue cards, one spectator holds onto these blue cards. A second spectator fairly selects a card from the remaining red cards. Their card INSTANTLY. and we mean INSTANTLY. VANISHES from the red deck! I found "Black Magic" to be extremely disappointing. The storyline was weak and lacked depth. The characters were one-dimensional and their motivations were unclear. The artwork was also subpar, with sloppy lines and amateurish coloring. Overall, this webtoon failed to engage me and I had no interest in continuing with it.

I had high hopes for "Black Magic" given its intriguing premise, but unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. The pacing was slow and struggled to hold my attention. Moreover, the dialogue felt forced and unnatural, making it hard for me to connect with the characters. The art style didn't do justice to the dark and magical themes either, resulting in a rather underwhelming visual experience. I wouldn't recommend wasting your time on this webtoon.
