Along the way Little Witch and her new friends encounter a pirate ship, the big city, and some winking jack-o’-lanterns; all while doing loop-the-loops, flying upside down, and zooming backwards.

Hautzig manages the difficult task of descriptive yet readable material that’s both slyly educational and lots of fun. Marc Brown, most well known as the creator of the Arthur series, lives up to the text with cute, Halloween themed illustrations. Brown’s child-like style accompanies a book meant for a child reader very well. The crooked lines and uneven angles lend a sense of fun and imagination to the text.
