The Transformative Power of Choosing Christ over Witchcraft

By admin

Rejecting Witchcraft in Favor of a Relationship with Christ Witchcraft has been practiced throughout history and across cultures, with individuals seeking spiritual power and control through various rituals and spells. However, as Christians, it is essential to understand that engaging in witchcraft goes against the teachings of Christ and the principles of the Bible. Instead of seeking power and control through witchcraft, we are called to embrace a relationship with Christ and trust in His power. In the Bible, witchcraft is condemned as an abomination and is specifically mentioned as something God detests. Deuteronomy 18:10-12 states, "Let no one be found among you who..

For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord , he has rejected you as king.’

Needless to say, witchcraft and voodoo brought all the wrong results men who emotionally and verbally abused me, months of isolation and loneliness, obsessive thinking, and unplanned demonic activity in my life. for a sin of divination is rebellion, and iniquity and teraphim is stubbornness; because thou hast rejected the word of Jehovah, He also doth reject thee from being king.

Overcoming Religious Spirits

One of the most powerful spirits that we have to stand against is the spirit of religion. In fact, it is so powerful that Paul connects religion with witchcraft.

You foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified? 2 This is the only thing I want to find out from you: did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Law, or by hearing with faith? 3 Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? Galatians 3:1-3

We think of witchcraft as a demonically infested sin and it is most certainly that, however, it is important to note that witchcraft begins not as a sin of the spirit but as a sin of the flesh and religion is very appealing to our flesh. A religious spirit is the “leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees” (Matt. 16:6) of which the Lord warned His disciples to beware.

When a religious spirit is influencing us we replace religious activity for the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. In fact, the religious spirit is Satan’s answer for the Holy Spirit. The religious spirit so closely mimics the Holy Spirit that many sincere believers think the Holy Spirit is leading them when in fact it is really a religious spirit.

Religion allows us to stay in control therefore it feels safe to our flesh because it tells us what to do externally and when we do it, our conscience is deceived by feelings of doing right. This replaces the inner peace of the Holy Spirit that comes from being in right relationship with the Lord. We become focused on doing instead of being Spirit led; doing replaces our relationship with God, we no longer are abiding in Christ nor can we walk in love. The ultimate goal of the religious spirit is to cut us off from a real and vital relationship with the Lord Himself.

Religion allures us with the false promise that we can be spiritual, but in the end it leaves you tired and burned out. Anytime I start giving in to the temptation of being in control and playing it safe it is not long before my spiritual life and ministry start feeling stagnant, lifeless and burdensome. I am deceived into thinking that the things of the Spirit are heavy and intense and I start acting and ministering from heaviness instead of the heavenly. I stop serving the Lord with gladness (Deut. 28:47).

One of the ways we overcome the religious spirit is to make our flesh our slaves (1 Cor. 9:27) and that includes our minds. It has been said that the mind is a great servant, but a terrible master. If we allow our minds to rule us, a religious spirit will influence us.

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. 29 Walk with me and work with me — watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. 30 Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30 (The Message Bible).

Another way to overcome the religious spirit is to have on-going times of “getting away with Jesus” in our hearts. This is a time when our minds are washed and renewed and we freshly receive His perspective on life and the result is “walking with Him in life and working with Him in ministry freely and lightly”.

Below I have copied The Twenty Five Warning Signs of a Religious Spirit by Rick Joyner. I encourage you to take an honest look at this list to see if there may be areas of your life that are being influenced by a religious spirit.

Many Blessings, BW

Unfortunately, his rejection of the word led to rebellion, which caused him to be rejected as king, resulting in witchcraft.
Rejecting witchcraft in favor of a relationship with christ

..For anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord." These verses make it clear that witchcraft is not compatible with a relationship with God. Furthermore, witchcraft promotes the idea of seeking power and control outside of God's authority. It encourages individuals to manipulate circumstances and outcomes through spells and rituals. However, as Christians, we are called to surrender our lives to God's will and trust in His plan for us. This requires humility and faith, recognizing that God is ultimately in control and has our best interests at heart. Rejecting witchcraft in favor of a relationship with Christ means acknowledging that true power lies in God alone. It means surrendering our desires for control and seeking God's guidance and direction in our lives. Instead of turning to spells and rituals, we turn to prayer and the study of God's Word to find wisdom and guidance. Ultimately, rejecting witchcraft in favor of a relationship with Christ is about aligning our lives with God's will and recognizing that true power and fulfillment come from Him alone. It involves trusting in His plan, seeking His guidance, and finding strength in His presence. As Christians, our focus should be on deepening our relationship with Christ and allowing His love and power to transform our lives. So let us reject witchcraft, embrace our relationship with Christ, and experience the true power and peace that only He can provide..

Reviews for "Living in His Love: Rejecting Witchcraft for a Life with Christ"

I found "Rejecting witchcraft in favor of a relationship with Christ" to be a narrow-minded and judgmental book. The author fails to recognize that witchcraft can be a valid spiritual practice for many people. Instead of offering an inclusive perspective, the book propagates a strong Christian agenda, dismissing any other beliefs. It is disappointing to see such close-mindedness in a book that claims to promote love, compassion, and understanding.

While I appreciate the author's perspective and dedication to Christianity, I believe the title of the book is misleading. It suggests that rejecting witchcraft is the only way to have a genuine relationship with Christ. As someone who has embraced both Christianity and elements of witchcraft, I did not find this book accommodating or informative. It may appease individuals who already adhere strictly to Christianity, but it alienates those who seek a more holistic spiritual approach.

I picked up "Rejecting witchcraft in favor of a relationship with Christ" with an open mind, hoping to gain some insights into the intersection of Christianity and witchcraft. Unfortunately, the book offered nothing but condemnation and judgment towards those who practice witchcraft. It fails to recognize that spirituality is a personal journey, and different practices work for different individuals. I would not recommend this book to anyone seeking a balanced and inclusive perspective on the subject.
