My daughter is a real girly girl and she just loves pink and purple, so needless to say she just loved the red hair, and loves that she is a mermaid.

I won't mention the particular ones, but there are some dolls that my kids see in advertisements or in the store that make me cringe. Even though dolls are consistently one of the most universally loved types of toys for girls everywhere, it's hard for me to be okay with some of the outfits, styles or messages that some of them display. Considering how much my kids enjoy their time spent in the water, I had no doubt that they would love the Avery Magic Swim Mermaid Doll when she arrived.
After removing Avery from the packaging (which took a bit of effort), we were happy to find that she is nearly as entertaining out of the water as she is in. Her flowing hair can be brushed and styled and her arms can be easily posed at her sides, above her head, and away from her body.
But of course the main entertainment that Avery provides is when she puts her rubbery pink mermaid tail to use for swimming.

While the Moxie Girlz Magic Swim Mermaid Doll does make a continuous motorized sound as she swims through the water, neither of my girls have minded at all and are instead always excited to see her sparkle and shimmer as she swims around and around them. We have experienced a time or two that Avery didn't stop swimming when she was removed from the water, but it only took a quick wipe with a towel over her sensors and she was ready for a rest.
In all, this doll has been a great addition to our bath and playtime routines, as she is able to partake in traditional hair and fashion styling but also come right to life once in the water. Designed for ages 3 and up, any young fan of mermaids would surely love to have her own graceful aquatic friend to swim with in the bath or pool.

1. Sarah - 2/5 - I was really disappointed with the Moxie Girlz Magic Swim Mermaid doll. The main issue I had was with the magic swim feature, which didn't work as advertised. Despite following the instructions carefully, the doll barely moved in the water, and it certainly didn't swim. The packaging made it seem like the doll would be a fun addition to bath time, but it was more of a letdown. The quality of the doll's hair and clothing was also quite poor, with the hair easily tangling and the outfit looking cheap. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this doll to others.
2. Mike - 1/5 - The Moxie Girlz Magic Swim Mermaid doll was a total waste of money. Not only did the doll not swim as promised, but it even sank to the bottom of the bathtub! There was nothing magical or entertaining about this toy. Additionally, the doll's limbs were very stiff, making it difficult to pose, and the hair constantly got tangled, which was frustrating for my daughter. The overall construction and quality of the doll were shockingly poor for the price. I definitely regret buying this product and would advise others to avoid it.

It was a huge disappointment considering its main selling point was the swimming feature. Secondly, the doll's outfit and hair quality left much to be desired. The hair tangled easily, and the material used for the clothing felt flimsy and cheap. Considering the price of this doll, I expected much better quality overall. Sadly, I cannot recommend this toy to anyone looking for a fun and entertaining swimming doll.
