As I understand there is only a grassy, green biome and a brown, underworld biome right now. Are deserts and snow biomes planned? Or even some sort of blight that will "travel" with the evil races? Are there any terraforming spells like in AoW3?

This is exactly the same game from 1994 with better graphics (mostly. The wizards portraits are actually uglier) and better music (still the same ditties from 1994 but they sound better on modern sound cards). Even the wizards and heroes names are mostly the same. Nothing meaningful changed in the game mechanics or game play experience, so the game is agonizingly slow and monotonic in modern strategy games standards. I've enjoyed the original game so I hoped to see a worthy tribute that tried to build over the original but add something new. I did enjoy the remake for Master of Orion from 2016 as it offered options and perspectives the original game didn't and a different experience that was more immersive than MOO1 (but still not as addictive as MOO2).
This is not the case here. It's exactly the same game and for a game from 1994 it's grossly overpriced.
