I haven’t started Little Busters! today too…Ok, firstly let me say that I have no idea whether I’ll continue doing this, but random-ness and inconsistency is pretty much this blog trademark. Chaos. Now, it’s naturally first episode, so this is merely a first impression. I’ll be blunt: I enjoyed it, but I can’t help but be a little critic towards it, as I read the LN and thus see this more as an adaptation than a stand alone Anime. For some reasons, I feel like apologizing to the studio… well, it was just to say that in case I sound harsh, it’s just me being a original source supremacist.

The setting is the already quite known “Isekai”, term which refers to those tales that have the main character(s) summoned, transported or reborn in another world. If you’re starting to see many of these ones in Anime, just know that in the LN world the market is so over saturated of this that contests have banned “Isekai” stories.
Well, Isekai have usually worlds with “Swords and Magic”, so this is a little less generic, since there are Mecha, swords and magic… I suppose the title of the show was chosen like this?
Normal Isekai = “Swords and Magic” -> we want a particular one, so “Mecha and Magic” -> mecha is ugly, let’s go with Knights -> “Knights and Magic” -> not cool enough -> “Knight’s & Magic”.

Ok, let’s proceed. As expected, MC is sent to another world thanks to the gracious act of Truck-sam- !? It’s not a truck, is it? It’s a normal car? I’m no expert, but isn’t it going a little slow to be deadly? Well, that aside,
It’s a trap. This cute little silver thing is our Otaku MC.
Isn’t it lovely how little Eru just ignore his father awaiting for a hug after just having saved the day from a giga-insect-monster, and straightly goes to hug the foot of the Mecha instead. Oh, wait. It’s called Silhouette knight, is it? This explain the choice of Knights and Magic I suppose.
Whelp, I would be in awe too seeing that.
By the way, I’m pleasantly impressed by the art and the animation. Mecha is usually ugly CG animated, but I quite liked here. To be honest, I was expecting some… worse things, as the studio animated the summoned monsters/beasts of Rewrite in a… disappointing way. See? You can do it if you try! Now, why couldn’t you do the same for it…
Obviously, our MC must have some kind of cheat or broken skill, and in our case it’s, not only the knowledge from our world, but also the programming. This may be me, but the fact that MC is a genius programmer and he coincidentally finds himself in a world where magic is pretty much like programming is a little too convenient. But I still enjoy these kind of stories, so screw it.
Weee. Narrator-san, aren’t you spoiling us a little there?
Now, here’s the first difference I can find: I remember that the first time Chid and Ady weren’t able to talk to him, and only during the second time they decided to become his students. That’s not really important story-wise, but I can feel the fast pace here.
Ok. Darn it if it was fast. I might remember wrongly here, but I believe Eru didn’t think of making his own Knight until later on? Well, not really important either. it’s not really important the fact that the meeting with the dwarf was in the middle of a training day and not during school.
Just me finding the pace surprisingly fast. It may be because I found the LN quite slow, boring almost, but this is quite the fast paced rythm. And… that’s not really a bad thing in my opinion, as the original pace might have been boring to some (like last season’ Grimoire of Zero?), or at least, I think it would have been for me.
Well, either way, it’s golden how Eru imposes himself over the teachers to avoid the fundamental classes so to attend the middle school ones. By the way, to tell the truth, the shape of Eru’s weapon bothered me not little.
From the illustrations of the Light Novel and the Manga, I was expecting something more… blade-y? Not sure if you get what I mean, but it should have been a rod with a blade attached to it. I think that’s a too modern design. In comparison, here’s the Light Novel version:
I like his hair there. Being too fluffly make him even younger and childish in my humble opinion.

The Anime is going to focus more on action it seems… as it breezed through the first half of the LN already. No, it’s already on the latter half and even skipped a some parts, Here three years passed and we’re on a field trip in a dangerous forest. There we meet the half-sister of Eru’s best friend and get to know the backstory…
…but we skipped an important part in my opinion: the duel between the half brother (while we saw only the half-sister), an obnoxious jealous brat who resort to kidnapping and other lowly things to win, and Kid.
Hmm, wait. Perhaps they will adapt this part later on? That would be chronologically wrong though, and it wouldn’t have any sense. So they are most likely going to skip that part. Thus, we’re directly going to see the confrontation with that huge… monster we saw at the end.
I expect a great fight. Ok, that’s all from me. This was supposed to be a simple comment or reaction post, yet it become a way for me to advertise the Manga and the Light Novel? Screw it, I’ll add that to the title then. Now you understand why I’m chaotic neutral.
