The Jones Beach, "Magic of Lights," Is It Worth it?

The Jones Beach annual “Magic of Lights” show will not be stopped by the corona virus this year! To say that the show is quite a hit this year is an understatement. People are waiting in lines for up to two hours just to get in! Harborfields senior, George Pryor, who went to the light show this past Friday told me that he waited in line for over an hour and half, and didn't get into the show until 12am!

It’s crazy to think there will still be around 50 cars behind him when the show closes at 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays. The last few cars probably didn't get into the light show around 12:30 to one in the morning!

Although the light show is “Magical”, I'm starting to wonder if the two hour wait is worth it. George stated, “Even though the light was pretty and entertaining, I wouldn't say it was worth the two hour wait.”

Though most people don't even have the time to wait in the line, there are still people, including my friends, who are deciding to go to the light show. So if you're thinking about going and have the time while also don't mind the long lines, I suggest you check it out! Here is some information!

The light show presented by NYCB bank runs till January 2nd, and is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 5-11pm and Sundays - Thursdays from 5-10pm. It is recommended that you purchase your tickets online before you come to the show, although you can still purchase tickets at the both.

You can purchase your tickets at magicoflights.com. Tickets are $30 Monday - Thursday and $35 Friday - Sunday.

Reviews for "Step into a World of Wonder at the Jones Beach Magic of Lights Show"

1. Emily - 1 star
I was so disappointed by the Jones Beach Magic of Lights. The whole experience felt like a complete waste of money. The light displays were underwhelming and the entire event was poorly organized. The staff seemed uninterested and clueless about what was going on. We waited in line for ages just to be rushed through the displays without any time to appreciate them. I would not recommend this event to anyone looking for a fun and magical holiday experience.
2. Michael - 2 stars
The Jones Beach Magic of Lights fell short of my expectations. The displays were definitely lacking creativity and there weren't enough of them to make the experience worth the price. The traffic to get into the event was horrendous, making the whole ordeal extremely frustrating. On top of that, the event was overcrowded and it felt like we were just being herded through like cattle. There are much better holiday light displays out there, so I wouldn't bother with this one.
3. Sarah - 2 stars
I had high hopes for the Jones Beach Magic of Lights, but unfortunately, it wasn't as magical as I had anticipated. The light displays were repetitive and didn't offer anything unique or special. The event itself was poorly managed with long lines and disorganized parking. The price of admission was also quite steep for what was essentially a subpar light show. I was left feeling disappointed and would suggest exploring other holiday light displays in the area instead.
