Escape to Witch Mountain is a 1995 television film directed by Peter Rader and produced by Disney. It is a remake of the 1975 film of the same name. I really should hate this movie. The visual effects are poorly dated (even more sad seeing this came out the same year as Jaws), the acting from the child actors, the villains (namely Donald Pleasance), and Eddie Albert are all super hammy, the music is simply of the era and doesn't do anything for me, and the logic of the Witch Mountain backstory makes no sense (seriously, how am I supposed to believe they initially came in spaceships when they spent the whole movie forcing the same flashback of a boating incident every 2 seconds?). But there's an innocence…
The best effects, opening sequence, and a weird atmosphere that seems like Disney fantasy-mystery-thriller-adventure, with its psychic imagery and high fantasy blend, the mystery it builds and the fact that it enjoys the style it has. Tia and Tony are two orphaned youngsters with extraordinary powers. Lucas Deranian poses as their uncle in order to get the kids into the clutches of Deranian's megalomaniacal boss, evil millionaire Aristotle Bolt, who wants to exploit them. Jason, a cynical widower, helps Tia and Tony escape to witch mountain, while at the same time Tia and Tony help Jason escape the pain of the loss of his wife.

1) John - 2 stars - I found "Escape to Witch Mountain" to be incredibly dull and lackluster. The plot was predictable and the characters were one-dimensional.
