Dallas Baptist University does not have an official mascot like many other universities. Despite this, the university community often refers to themselves as the "Patriots." Through the University hymn, To God Be The Glory, the DBU family thanks God for all of His blessings and His guidance throughout the history of the school. The Educator Preparation Program at Dallas Baptist University is also accredited by the Texas Education Agency TEA and approved by the State Board for Educator Certification SBEC to prepare, train, and recommend teacher, school counselor, diagnostician, reading specialist, principal, and superintendent candidates for certification.
They often don school colors, chant cheers, and rally behind their fellow Patriots. As an alternative to a traditional mascot, the university sometimes employs a live bald eagle during major events and athletic games. Nicknamed "Patriot," the bald eagle serves as a symbol of strength, freedom, and patriotism.
