The Amityville curse is a widely debated topic in the world of paranormal phenomena. The Amityville horror story revolves around a supposedly haunted house in Amityville, New York. The house became infamous after the murders that took place there in 1974, when Ronald DeFeo Jr. shot and killed six members of his family. After the DeFeo murders, the house was sold to the Lutz family, who claimed to experience a variety of supernatural events during their short stay. These events included strange sounds, demonic voices, and bizarre paranormal occurrences.

The Amityville Curse trailer: Hans Holzer adaptation is now on Tubi

There’s another Amityville movie to watch! And this one actually has some connection to the early days of the franchise. These days it seems like every indie filmmaker in the world has made something with Amityville in the title, but the new film The Amityville Curse is based on the novel of the same title, which was written by Hans Holzer. Holzer was a parapsychologist who invested the supposedly haunted house in Amityville in the ’70s and went on to write the books Murder in Amityville (which served as a source of inspiration for Amityville II: The Possession), The Secret of Amityville, and yes, The Amityville Curse. The new adaptation of Holzer’s work has been released through the Tubi streaming service as a Tubi Original – and you can check out the trailer for it in the embed above.

This is actually the second movie to be called The Amityville Curse. Another version, loosely based on the Holzer novel, was released in 1990. According to Tubi, The new adaptation of Hans Holzer’s novel is a modern take on the ever popular franchise with a fictionalized story that remains true to the novel. Here’s the synopsis: A group of friends purchase an infamous home with the intention of flipping it, only to discover a deadly paranormal presence bent on destruction.

The new take on The Amityville Curse was directed by Éric Tessier (You Will Remember Me) from a screenplay by Dennis Heaton. Brendan Fehr, Ennis Esmer, Jenny Raven, Dillon Casey, Mercedes Morris, Vanessa Smythe, Tommie-Amber Pirie, Michael Xavier, Felicia Shulman, Jennifer Miller, and Kenny Wong star.

Holzer’s daughter Alexandra Holzer executive produced the film with Graham Ludlow, Kaleigh Kavanagh, Brook Peters, and Shari Segal. Alexandra Holzer was involved with the production because she wanted to pay “tribute to continuing the authenticity and legacy of her father’s work.”

The Amityville Curse is a collaboration between Tubi and Incendo. The companies previously worked together on the Terror Train remake.

Hans Holzer’s book, it’s interesting to note, ended up serving as the basis for official franchise movie The Amityville Curse, which was released back in 1990.

Tubi previews, “The new adaptation of Hans Holzer’s novel is a modern take on the ever popular franchise with a fictionalized story that remains true to the novel.”

Further ensuring an authentic approach, Incendo secured the underlying rights to Hans Holzer’s titular original novel from the estate.

‘Scream 7’ – Neve Campbell Would Potentially Return Under “the Right Circumstances”

The future of the Scream franchise is quite unclear at the moment, with franchise stars Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega no longer involved in the upcoming Scream 7, and director Christopher Landon exiting the project as well. The project has completely fallen apart behind the scenes, needless to say, and Paramount/Spyglass are scrambling.

A report came out this past November that suggested the studios are hoping to bring Neve Campbell back for Scream 7, and Campbell is open to that – under the right circumstances.

“It’s sad to me that they’re struggling at the moment. I would imagine that the people at the top are spinning a little bit. Trying to make the right decision. I would imagine people want to do the right thing. I would hope,” Campbell tells Indiewire in a new chat this weekend. “I love this franchise. I would hope it doesn’t fall apart.”

When asked if she would ever return, Campbell had this to say: “Given the right circumstances, yes. I made a statement several years ago, and it was the reason I didn’t do [Scream VI] at the time. I just really felt the need to stand up and say that I don’t believe I would’ve been treated that way had I been a man carrying a franchise for 25 years. And that still stands.”

The reason Campbell didn’t return for Scream VI was because she wasn’t being offered the money she felt she was worth, so that’s one of the issues that would need to be resolved before she ever even considers playing Sidney Prescott on the big screen one more time.

The movie needs a new protagonist now that Barrera and Ortega are no longer returning to Woodsboro, so I’d imagine the studios are hungry to bring Campbell back at any cost.

Stay tuned for more on Scream 7 as we learn it. The movie is not only without a star but also without a director, so a lot is going to have to come together for this one to get moving.

Last we heard, James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick are still on board to write the script.

Tubi Confirms Adaptation Of ‘The Amityville Curse’ & Original Horror Pic ‘Marry F*** Kill’

Tubi and Incendo are expanding their relationship to create more horror content with a new film adaptation of Hans Holzer’s The Amityville Curse and an original film titled Marry F*** Kill. This announcement comes after the streaming service and production company collaborated on Terror Train.

“With the anticipated launch of the Tubi Original Terror Train right around the corner, we’re pleased to share that we’re already building upon our content creation partnership with Incendo,” said Adam Lewinson, Chief Content Officer at Tubi. “We look forward to continuing our collaboration and working with fantastic Canadian filmmakers and talent on an exciting reimagining of The Amityville Curse and our new original, Marry F*** Kill, which mixes elements of Stranger Things and Euphoria in its captivating script.”
